Before we begin,
I want to offer you this gentle reminder.
There is no way to be a perfect mother,
And a million ways to be a good one.
Let those words rest softly somewhere nearby as you settle in.
Allow yourself to sit in a way that feels supported.
Let your spine lengthen gently without effort.
Rest your hands wherever they naturally fall,
In your lap,
At your sides,
Or perhaps one hand over your heart and the other over your stomach.
If your feet are touching the floor,
Let them grow heavy there,
Rooted to the ground.
If you are lying down,
Let your body be fully held by what is beneath you.
Take a slow breath in,
And sigh it out.
Begin breathing through your nose,
And sigh it out your mouth,
Allowing the shoulders to soften.
Let your jaw release.
Relax the small muscles around your eyes.
Let the forehead smooth.
Let your tongue rest.
And with the next breath,
Soften the space just beneath your ribs,
That quiet place where so much tension gathers without asking permission.
You have nothing to hold right now,
Nothing to manage,
Just this breath arriving and leaving.
Imagine the day as evening light slowly fading across a wide sky.
Whatever was unfinished,
Whatever still lingers,
Whatever felt beautiful or difficult,
See it all becoming softer at the edges,
Less sharp,
Less demanding,
A little further away with each breath out.
Some moments may still glow warmly,
Others may still feel tender.
You do not have to arrange them,
You do not have to decide what should have been different.
If kindness touched your day,
Even briefly,
Let gratitude rise for it.
For the seen and unseen ways,
Support arrives.
And if today felt lonely or heavier than you expected,
Let there be gentleness there too.
No resistance,
No judgment,
Only room.
Now imagine setting the day beside you,
As if placing down something you have carried carefully for many hours.
You do not need to throw it away,
Only loosen your grip,
Let your chest soften,
Let your belly release,
Let the weight in your legs sink downward.
For this moment,
Allow yourself to step outside the quiet belief that everything depends on you holding it all together.
This day is complete and you are allowed to rest without finishing every thought.
Repeat these affirmations with me,
Either aloud or silently.
I release this day.
I receive what was good.
I soften what was hard.
I rest in what is here.
One more slow breath in through the nose,
And a long breath out.
And let yourself be held by this moment,
And let that be enough.
