Grounding in the earth element as a meditation.
So you're invited to bring your attention to this current moment.
Putting aside worries and concerns about things not here.
And bringing attention to the reality of your body as it's standing,
Sitting,
Lying,
Connected to the earth.
When worries arise,
When thoughts arise,
Don't struggle with those concepts and ideas.
Simply let your body be grounding for you.
Simply bring your attention back to what's real for you right now in your body as we connect with earth element.
Earth element is experienced as hardness and softness,
Heaviness,
Solidity in our body.
And let your attention sink into that experience.
Stay with it even though there may be lots of thoughts,
Lots of other experiences pulling your attention away.
Simply let earth element and the contact with the earth element be a stable point to return to.
A simple experience of hardness and softness touching the earth.
Let the earth be your stable point of reference.
The earth be a way of bringing you back to the present.
And from that stable point of reference,
Allow awareness to shine up through the rest of the body,
Feeling what it feels,
Being attentive to the experiences of hardness and softness,
Being experienced to heaviness,
Solidity.
Begin in the movement of the breath,
Be aware of moments of sensations,
Hardness and softness.
Then the mind is hijacked with worries and concerns,
With fears.
Simply acknowledge those experiences and come back.
Come back to the presence of your body and earth element just here,
Just this.
Scan with your attention,
Your awareness throughout the whole of your body,
The top of your head to the tip of your toes.
Scanning,
Being aware.
Being aware of hardness in your forehead,
Your head,
That experience of solidity.
Scanning with your awareness through the bones of your face,
Your head,
Feeling the solidity in your teeth.
Bring your awareness down through your neck and shoulders,
Feeling the heaviness,
The weight pulling you towards the earth,
Feeling the earth inside you.
Bring your awareness down your arms,
Both arms,
Feeling the contact of the skin against your body and also the weight of your arms as they sit there or hang there or lie there in whatever posture you are.
Feel the weight of your hands,
The solidity of your hands,
The mass of your hands present here now.
Bring your awareness through your chest and upper back.
Feeling contact with the chair,
Cushion,
Ground or just air if you're standing.
Moving your awareness through your torso,
Chest,
Upper abdomen,
Abdomen,
Midsection of the back,
Lower back.
Being particularly aware of sensations of hardness and softness,
Pressure,
Solidity,
Joy,
Being connected with that tangible experience.
Any thoughts just do what they want to do,
Yet focusing your attention on the reality of your body just being here.
Bringing awareness to the structure of your hips,
Your pelvis,
Almost feeling into the bones,
That solidness.
Feeling into the solidness of your legs as they press up against the ground if you're lying here,
If you're sitting,
Holding you in a standing position if you're standing.
Sitting right down to the feet,
The sole of the feet,
The tops of the feet if you're sitting.
Whatever posture you are,
Be aware of the grounded connection with the earth and the earth element within your feet,
Anchoring you into this reality,
The reality of presence.
Being aware of your whole body now,
Just being here,
The grounded sensations of your body,
Being a refuge,
Being a place of respite in the overwhelm of information,
In the tofts and turns of emotions,
Fear and anxiety,
Worry,
Ruminations.
Let being anchored in your body be a refuge.
A refuge of being awake to this current reality,
To being here now.
Let being anchored in your body be a refuge.
Let being anchored in your body be a refuge.
