This comforting guided visualisation practice offers us a bubble, for which we can escape from our worries. This meditation is adapted from a traditional Buddhist approach for the cultivation of insight and serenity. It helps to develop equanimity, which is a state of mind that is unshaken by the inevitable ups and downs of life.

The bubble of peaceful space.

Set yourself up in a posture that feels very comfortable and imagine that you are in a bubble.

All your worries and concerns and hassles can be put outside the bubble and inside the bubble nothing can get to you.

It is spacious and free in this bubble.

In the bubble nothing bothers you and it is your special space.

In this space it is safe and peaceful.

In this space your body feels comfortable and at ease.

As you sit or lie in this space your body relaxes completely bit by bit.

First your feet relax completely.

Completely relaxed.

Then your legs relax.

Tension is released and your legs relax.

Then your arms become heavy and floppy.

Completely relaxed.

Then you feel your head,

Your face and it relaxes.

All the tension disappears from your face so that your mouth,

Your jaw,

Your forehead all relaxes.

Whatever tension that was in your face melts completely away.

Your forehead smooths out.

Your eyes become heavy and your face completely relaxes.

Then you bring attention to your chest,

Your back,

Your stomach.

Then you relax.

At all the tension in these parts of your body completely let go.

Simply release tension.

As you relax these parts of your body you can probably feel your breathing.

Let your breathing happen without you trying to change it.

You might feel it as stretching around your stomach or your abdomen or your chest rising and falling.

Let the breathing happen without trying to change it and making it fast or slow or deep or shallow.

Just let it be as it is.

You've been breathing for as long as you've been alive without you trying to make it happen.

It just happens by itself.

Let it happen and notice the whole experience of the breath.

Your breath is like a good friend.

It is always there for you.

Bringing attention to the breath and the space in your bubble becomes a very,

Very peaceful and far away and it becomes very far away from anything that may disturb you.

Try to notice the beginning,

Middle and end of both an in-breath and an out-breath.

How does the breath feel?

Notice the breath softly and gently.

Notice the rhythmic movement.

Let thoughts and feelings and other experiences like sounds and so on come and go and do not struggle with any of them.

Just as your friend in the breath is there for you,

Be there for every breath.

Not missing anything but up very,

Very close and tracking the movement.

When you're up close tracking how the breath changes,

There is no time to be concerned about anything because the breath has all of your attention.

Be there for the next breath and the next breath and the next breath.

Let it soothe and calm you.

Feel the bubble of your special place.

Expand and contract with each and every breath.

It is very peaceful and nicely spacious.

Stay with your friend,

Give beautiful breath as it makes the bubble of peaceful space a wonderful place to be.

All your worries and concerns are far,

Far away.

You are safe and protected in your special space.

You can continue to be aware of your breathing.

Be in your special bubble,

This spacious bubble of awareness.

And when you feel the time is right,

You can make the intention to end this particular period.

But before you get up and move and be in the world mindfully,

Recollect your meditation period,

What you did and what worked to bring you calm and insight.

Then when the time is right,

You can open your eyes if they were closed and get ready to move and be in the world knowing that you can access the bubble of spacious peacefulness
