‘Kaya’ means physical body and ’Utsarg’ means renunciation. The practice of Kayotsarg is the practice to renounce the sensations of the physical body. Only when our sensory inputs are completely stilled, the mind can be still. In this practice, we become aware of a body part. We visualize the body part and become aware of the various sensations. Then we let the awareness of the body part go. With consistent practice, most meditators can quite effortlessly experience a deep concentration or even enter a state of meditation.
