So,
Settling yourselves down,
Getting yourself really nice and comfy,
Making sure that you have a blanket over you.
As the body starts to relax,
The temperature can drop.
If you need,
Pop a cushion behind your knees,
Or feel free to just lie wherever.
If you're in a bedroom,
You can lie on your bed,
You can lie on the sofa,
Whatever feels good.
And don't feel that you have to be on your back,
You can lie in whatever way is going to bring you most comfort.
And just settling yourselves.
And so,
Just inviting the weight of the body to settle down,
To feel held by gravity,
Held by the earth.
And just remembering in your mind what it's like to be really held by someone.
Just to encourage and invite feelings of being utterly held in right now.
And tuning into the rhythm of the breath,
The soft ebb and flow of the breath.
The breath can be very light,
Very subtle,
Or you may wish to just lengthen and deepen it and sigh a few long breaths out.
So what is your practice needing to be for you just now?
And so tuning in to the sensations in your hands,
In the fingers,
In the thumbs.
Tuning in to that vibration,
The background static of what it is to be alive.
And inviting the awareness now into your feet.
Become aware of tingling,
Sensation,
Touch and pressure in your toes.
Awareness of your toes,
Of your fingers and thumbs.
And now let's extend our awareness as if it could start to gently spread,
Flow,
Creep into the backs of the hands,
Into the palms.
Awareness of sensations in the hands.
Into the tops of the feet,
Into the soles of the feet,
Into the heels.
Aliveness and awareness in the feet.
Becoming aware of your right hand,
All of the hand.
Becoming aware of your left hand,
The back,
The palm,
All of the hand.
Becoming aware of your foot,
Your right foot.
Tingling throughout the whole of the foot.
And the left.
Becoming aware of your left foot.
And then the awareness starting to flow up,
Ankles,
Wrists,
Forearms,
Elbows,
Shins and calf muscle,
Up into the knees,
The top of the knee and the back of the knees.
Awareness of the knees,
Awareness of the elbows.
Getting higher to the upper arms,
Hands,
Wrists,
Lower arms,
Elbows,
Upper arms,
Shoulders,
Knees,
Where of the whole of the left arm.
Awareness of the whole of the right.
Awareness of both of your arms.
Now coming back into the legs,
Feet,
Ankles,
Lower legs,
Knees.
Awareness of your thighs.
Pulsation or vibration or tingling or shimmering in your thighs.
And the shimmering is something that we can experience.
Is a reverberation on the tiniest level,
Structurally,
In each and every cell.
And in each and every cell,
Our DNA.
And the little machines,
For want of a better word,
That clean our DNA,
That reproduce it.
Constantly in motion.
Billions and billions of cells dying and being replaced.
Into cellular and a molecular level.
And so this energy of life,
This gentle vibration that we can sense tingling in our fingertips.
Throughout every cell in the body.
Coming up from the thighs into the hips and the pelvis.
Awareness of the hips,
The pelvis.
If at a very basic level,
There's tension,
Could it soften?
The hips become even heavier.
Relaxing the pelvis.
Relaxing the belly,
The spine.
Awareness of aliveness in the pelvis,
The belly and the spine.
Coming up the spine,
Awareness of each of your shoulder blades.
Coming up the belly,
Past the navel,
Awareness of the rib cage,
Collarbones.
Awareness of the centre of the chest,
The heart.
May even be able to experience your heartbeat.
Or maybe not.
Awareness coming up through the throat and the neck,
Into the head.
Awareness of the whole of the head,
The back of the head,
The sides,
The top of the crown.
Awareness of the forehead.
Awareness of your ears,
Curve,
The warm shell of each ear.
Awareness of your temples.
Awareness of your eyes and even though they're closed,
Are you still looking behind your closed eyes?
Can you invite that to soften?
Softening the eyes.
Awareness in the cheeks,
In the nose,
In the lips,
Upper lip,
Lower lip.
Awareness inside the mouth,
The tongue and your teeth.
The jawline and your chin.
The whole body,
Awareness of the whole of your body.
The legs,
The arms,
The whole of the back of the body,
The whole of the front,
The whole of the head.
Just bringing the awareness to the centre of the chest,
To the heart.
Fire element associated with this wonderful heart of springtime.
The name of the energy centre of the heart is Anahat,
Unstruck Sound.
Sound without a cause.
Sound that is a primordial sound of not only our bodies in this very moment but that of the cosmos.
And so tuning in to the energy of what it is to be alive.
Awareness of energy.
Awareness of a rhythm.
Almost as if it can be quite hard to detect the frequency of our energy,
But we can detect the rhythm of the heart.
It's slower,
It's bigger.
The rhythm of the heart,
The frequency of that wonderful shimmering of aliveness.
Centre of a tulip.
White centre with dark stamens and yellow.
Arcing out into red and yellow petals or purple petals or pink.
The rings of a tree.
The way that sound moves through the air.
How sound moves through water.
Sound of the heart.
The energy of life.
Depending on the time and place of experiencing this,
You may be tuning in and able to hear the sounds of springtime unfurling around you.
Just as sound waves radiate out in circles like the rings of a tree,
Like the centre of a tulip,
Here we are on planet Earth,
A sphere.
And the blue overarching sky wraps around the whole of Mother Earth.
Your awareness is as wide and as vast as the sky.
Realise in the heart as tiny as a sesame seed.
Perhaps playing with the two.
Breathing into the heart,
Focusing into the smallest,
Smallest point in the heart.
And then exhaling and expanding the awareness to be sky-like.
And then inviting both in,
Both that focused awareness in the centre of the heart and the awareness as vast as the overarching sky.
And then letting go of that and just returning to the soft ebb and flow of the breath.
Bring the awareness into the fingers,
The toes,
The hands,
The feet.
Awareness of the whole of the arms and legs,
The whole of the body and head.
And then starting to deepen and lengthen the breath,
Bring ourselves to a more everyday mode of awareness and awakeness.
Starting to move toes and fingers,
Stretch the arms overhead,
Hug the knees and rock from side to side.
And then just coming to rest on a comfy side.
This practice of springtime yoga nidra,
Focused on the rhythm of life is now over and complete.
Thank you very much for listening.
