This meditation will help you to become comfortable with being uncomfortable.
A practice for easing suffering,
Pain,
Anxiety,
And worry in your life.
Learning to meet discomfort where it's at.
Exploring and observing it with love,
Curiosity,
And compassion,
Which cultivates unshakable inner peace.
Being comfortable with being uncomfortable.
If it's safe to do so,
Close your eyes or lower your gaze.
Your spine is straight yet comfortable.
The crown of your head proudly lifting up towards the sky.
Your belly relaxed.
Buddha belly.
Your pelvic floor relaxed.
Your hands gently placed in your lap or by your side.
Smooth the lines of your forehead and in between your brows.
Allowing the skin of your face to soften and release.
Relax your eyes.
The outside corner,
The inside corner.
The lids are smooth and heavy.
Relax your ears.
Relax your jaw.
Release your shoulders down and bring your attention to your breath.
The intention is to be uncomfortable.
So you might feel like sitting in a seated meditation posture is uncomfortable enough.
However,
If you're up for a challenge,
You could place your arms out sideways and move them up and down as if you're trying to fly.
The choice is up to you.
Know at any time you can stop the movement of your arms.
Even though I will be encouraging you to keep going.
You know what's right for you.
Please honor your intuition.
Let's begin.
When you notice discomfort in your body,
Just notice it.
Approach it with curiosity,
With love.
But don't relieve it.
Don't even wish it to be relieved.
Because you want to observe it,
To understand it.
Observe your thoughts,
Your reaction in discomfort.
Observe you observing your thoughts.
See if this distance helps.
Be curious.
Can you come to this with a different perspective?
Feeling love and compassion.
You might be feeling anxious,
Tired,
Or annoyed.
But resist and you will become stronger.
Observe your thoughts,
Your reaction to suffering.
Understand it's just a reaction and you can choose another.
You might want to move and relieve the suffering.
But resist and you will become stronger.
You might want to give up now.
And you can if you want.
But resist and you will become more knowledgeable,
Stronger.
You are learning how to become comfortable with discomfort,
With suffering.
Now release your arms,
Placing them by your side or on your lap.
Observe the sensations in your body.
Awareness to your thoughts.
Put your hands to your heart and know that you are becoming stronger,
More at peace with discomfort.
You are cultivating unshakable inner peace.
Namaste.
