Fireside Sleep Story to help you drift into a peaceful sleep.
You may hear the sound of the crackling fire in the background as I record this by an open fire on a rainy day in the springtime of Ireland.
As you lie down in your bed and prepare your body for sleep let yourself sink into your bed,
Make yourself comfortable and just embrace the energy of the fire in the background using your imagination to feel the warmth envelop your body closing your eyes snuggling into your bed just letting your body rest after the efforts of the day bringing your body into being after all of the doing and then take a few long deep breaths breathing in through your nose and out through your mouth with a long sigh breathing in,
Receive your breath breathing out,
Release the day breathing in,
Receive,
Sleep and rest breathing out,
Release any stress or tension breathing in,
Receive,
Breathing out,
Release the ebb and flow of your body breathing the rhythm slowly lulling you into a deep restful state slowly letting your body unwind,
Release and rest as you slowly bring your awareness down to your feet your feet that have carried you through the day just noticing how they feel against your bed starting to feel whether they feel warm or cool heavy,
Light,
Perhaps wriggling your toes and just let your feet relax let them land on your bed and soften as you bring the sense of relaxation from your feet and let it travel up your legs noticing how your legs are supported by the bed beneath you and then moving from your legs to your hips relaxing your hips up your torso,
To your belly to your chest to your shoulders down your arms and all the way down to your hands as you notice how your hands are feeling as you let them rest from all the doing of the day and bring your awareness to how they feel in this moment do they feel cool or warm numb or tingly then let them relax just let them land by your side or rest on your belly or your heart and then bring that awareness from your hands back up your arms over your shoulders and down your back as you notice how your back is supported by the bed beneath it as you notice your spine from the top of your head to the base of your body and just let it relax into the support beneath it just let yourself land in your bed and rest as you move your awareness now from your back to the back of your head where your head is on your pillow to the top of your head to your forehead to your eyes to your nose,
Your mouth your jaw and over to your ears just let your head relax now your whole body and head relaxed at ease and ready to drift off into a long deep sleep just feeling as you drift slowly noticing your body sinking noticing your body resting breathing,
Being,
Resting,
Releasing I'll tell you a little story now to really help you land into the dream time a story of a young girl who lived in the forest with her parents and this young girl had spent the day doing and helping and she was now sitting by the fire resting looking into the fire feeling the warmth listening to the crackling of the firewood and just letting herself be with the warmth and the noise and the sound as her body was resting her mother in the kitchen making dinner her father came in and asked if she could go and gather more firewood as he was tired after his long day the young girl was not happy she wanted to stay resting by the fire and the warmth but she did as she was told wrapped herself up in layers and layers as it was snowy and cold outside so she ventured out into the cold noticed as she entered from the warmth to the cold how her breath showed on the wind she slowly started to move step by step noticing her footprints on the snow as she walked feeling the air on her face the crispness,
The coldness as she wrapped herself further in her blanket of coats and scarves and hats she found the wheelbarrow to wheel down to the woods to get more firewood and once she got there she loaded up the barrow and after this she was a little bit tired and decided she would stay a while in the forest and she cleared a space under the trees so she could find some more wood to light a small fire to keep her warm as she rested and as she cleared the space she saw there was something beneath the surface of the ground and so she decided to dig a little bit deeper she moved the snow,
Some of the earth and underneath she found a chest an old chest that had been buried for a long time she dusted it off and tried to open it but she could not as she saw there was a little keyhole and it needed a key to open it and so she looked a little bit further in the ground to see if she could find a key and after a while she did she dusted the key off,
Dusted the keyhole placed the key in and opened the chest and as she did so the most magnificent,
Brightest light shone out of the chest and revealed something magical that only you can imagine in this moment as you drift off into sleep and into the dreamtime and rest deeply falling deeper dreaming deeper resting,
Resting resting
