Welcome to this Yoga Nidra practice to address your emotional need for safety and security.
This practice is an act of self love and my intention for this Yoga Nidra practice is allow your need for security in the world to be witnessed.
The feeling of safety,
Feeling grounded to the earth,
Moving from surviving to thriving.
Feeling the security of a blanket wrapped around you,
Giving you a sense of nurturing care,
Looking to bring balance to the rich,
Dark,
Deep terrain of your root chakra,
Your first energy centre,
Which is located at the base of your spine.
Feeling the gravity of the floor beneath this area.
This energy centre relates to stability,
Grounding,
Physical health,
Prosperity and trust.
To be here now.
This is the energy centre connected with self preservation.
The element is earth,
Which is associated with the north in the four directions,
Which relates to the winter months,
Which we are slowly entering.
It relates to the darkness where all life begins.
We cannot have the light without the dark.
Affirmations that you can use to address your need for security are,
The earth supports me and meets my needs.
I love my body and trust its wisdom.
I am immersed in abundance.
Lay your bodies in blankets and feel the warmth enveloping your body as you allow yourself to fold inward with a pillow beneath your head,
Below your knees and perhaps a mask over your eyes so that you can sink deep into the body as you feel each part of you becoming heavy with weight,
Connecting with the floor beneath you or the bed or whatever surface you're lying on,
Supporting you fully as you soften and sink deeper.
Ensure you are as comfortable as possible so that you can remain completely still for the practice.
If you want to make any adjustments,
You can do that now.
Just remember this is your yoga nidra practice.
Whatever you need to do to feel completely comfortable,
Please allow it.
There is no right or wrong way of practicing yoga nidra.
There is only your unique way for your ultimate release and unwind.
Sleep that soothes away all our worries.
Sleep that puts each day to rest.
Sleep that relieves the weary labourer and heals hurt minds.
Sleep the main course in life's feast and the most nourishing.
A quote by William Shakespeare.
In the stillness,
The wisdom of your body can relax and remain conscious of the whispers of silence,
Becoming aware of the energy centre at the base of your spine,
Your pelvic area,
Your root.
Take a long deep breath in through your nose and breathe all the way down,
Feeling your belly expand as you breathe in.
Allow the breath slowly out through your mouth with a long sigh.
Take another breath like that,
Seeing if you can expand your belly slightly more this time.
Then sigh deeply out once more through your mouth.
Take one final breath like this and with your final sigh through your mouth,
Sink further into the surface beneath you and deeper into your nest of warmth.
As you relax your breath,
Become aware now of your in-breath and feel the vitality enter your body as you breathe in.
Let your out-breath take care of itself for the moment and just focus now on your in-breath and the feeling of aliveness that emerges as you breathe in.
Now let that go and bring your focus now to your out-breath,
Feeling the release with each out-breath,
The relaxation you feel as you breathe out and the sense of safety that emerges as you notice your body letting go and you snuggle deeper into your warm nest.
Now let that go and relax your breathing,
Breathing in,
Breathing out,
Bringing a balance to your breath,
The natural rhythm of your breath in your body,
Your body breathing.
The practice of yoga nidra now begins.
You start by setting a sankalpa.
This is where you will notice the whisper of your sankalpa for your practice.
Sankalpa is an intention,
A vow you make to yourself which is in the present tense and starts with I am.
This will come naturally to you like a gentle stroke of a feather on your face.
It can be very simple,
Something like I am safe,
I am grounded,
I am at peace.
It's your unique sankalpa,
Your unique intention.
So whatever is nudging you right now,
Trust that wisdom and say it in your head three times now.
And then let it go,
Let it drift into the ether and trust that the divine will look after it for you.
Now slowly guiding your awareness back to your root chakra,
Imagine a deep crimson cashmere blanket wrap around you and hold you in tenderness.
Feel the heat of the crimson cashmere help you relax deeper into your body as it moves from your root to the top of your head and back to your root again in a loop of gentle caressing like warm wind blowing from your root to your belly to your heart to your throat to your brow centre and to your crown.
Then back down from your crown to your brow centre to your throat to your heart to your belly to your root.
As I guide you through a rotation of consciousness I will mention a body part and you bring your awareness to that body part and perhaps the red cashmere blanket can envelop the parts bringing tenderness and love with it.
Point the arrow of awareness to your tongue under your palate,
Your teeth and gums.
Feel your whole mouth,
Feel your jaw,
Ears,
Cheeks and nose.
Feel the backs of your eyeballs around to where your eyes meet your eyelids and feel your eyebrows,
Feel your brow centre and expand awareness from there to feel your whole face.
This awareness melts down all around and within your throat,
Collarbones and shoulders.
Feel your right arm,
Your elbow,
Your forearm and your hand all the way into your fingertips,
The red cashmere blanket holding you.
Feel your whole right arm filled with conscious awareness.
Return to the hollow of your throat,
Feel your left arm,
Elbow,
Forearm and hand all the way into your fingertips.
Feel your whole left arm filled with conscious awareness.
Feel both arms come alive together filled with awareness.
Feel your heart,
Experience your lungs with every breath.
Point the arrow of your awareness to your solar plexus just below your ribs and above your belly button and slide it down into your low belly and your entire pelvic bone,
Red cashmere blanket gently caressing as you feel your whole torso from your collarbones and shoulder blades to your pelvic floor.
Feel your right thigh,
Knee,
Lower leg and ankle.
Feel your right foot and toes.
Feel your whole right leg from your toes to your hip.
The arrow of awareness points down your left thigh,
Knee,
Lower leg and ankle.
Feel your left foot and toes.
Feel your whole left leg from your toes to your hip.
Sense both legs simultaneously.
Sense both arms together.
Feel both arms and legs along with your torso and head.
Settle back into the consciousness of your entire back body and expand upward to feel your entire front body consciousness.
Feel your whole right side.
Feel your whole left side.
Feel your whole body as one unit,
Whole body.
Expand awareness into your whole entire body,
Your whole entire body.
Simply guiding your awareness now to the rich,
Dark,
Deep terrain of your root chakra,
Your first energy centre connected with the deep crimson cashmere blanket holding you in presence,
Feeling the security of the blanket as if it has become your second skin,
The soft embrace of another layer protecting you and keeping you safe,
Helping you bring balance to your body in its entirety,
Feeling I am right where I need to be right now in this present moment.
Now bring the feeling of courage into your body,
Remembering a time where you felt really courageous,
Where can you feel that courage?
Bring it all the way down to your root.
Now let that go and bring the feeling of fear into your body.
Where can you sense that feeling?
How does it manifest in your body?
Now bring the feeling of courage back into your body,
Feeling the fire of courage light up your whole body now from your root to your crown,
Your crown to your root.
Now bring the feeling of abundance into your body,
Where do you feel abundant in your life?
How does it feel in your body?
Breathe it all the way down to your root,
The abundant energy in your body.
Now bring the feeling of lack into your body,
Where do you feel that?
How does it feel for you?
Let it go and feel the abundance again,
The energy that brings as you breathe it into your body.
Now bring a balance to everything,
Balancing abundance with lack,
Courage with fear,
Balancing your left and right side,
The top of your head,
The bottom of your feet,
Your crown to your root,
Feeling each side completely balanced and aligned and connected,
Your back body,
Your front body.
I will now start naming objects,
Places and things.
While I name these,
Use the power of your imagination and visualize what I name as I guide you through.
Warmth from a log fire burning,
Steam rising from a warm bath,
The feel of crimson cashmere blanket,
Snuggling a teddy bear,
A dog wagging its tail,
The smell of a rose garden,
The sun rising over the mountains,
A log cabin in the woods,
A large oak tree in full bloom,
Leaves falling from a tree,
Smoke coming out of the chimney,
A child laughing,
Your breath on a cold winter's morning,
Leaves crunching beneath your feet,
The sky at night filled with stars,
The full moon shining on the sea,
A room lit by candle light,
A log fire,
A log fire burning,
A log fire burning bright.
Now settle your root,
Your base chakra,
Your first energy center onto the floor as you allow it to sink deep into the layers of earth beneath you,
Feeling the safe and sacred connection to the floor,
Down through the floor to the ground beneath,
Down into the earth,
Sinking deep into the heart of the earth,
Folding deep into its core and feeling the warm embrace of mother earth.
Welcome the silence,
The spaciousness and the stillness for the next few minutes.
This amongst yourselvessilence and the you you As you gently emerge from your bliss state You will hear the whisper of your sankhapa nudging you To connect with its wisdom as you repeat it again three times Knowing it will be offered to the divine to process again In perfect universe And unison with the universe The practice of yoga nidra is now complete Gently feel your body awaken as you tenderly move whatever feels right for you Wriggling your fingers,
Your toes,
Your head from side to side Perhaps stretching a bit Whatever feels right as you gently awaken and tenderly move your body And when you are ready and only when you are ready Move your body onto your favourite side And wrap your legs with your arms and lie in the feeling position for a few moments And once it feels right for you You can slowly bring yourself up to sitting And then stay seated for a while And then before you open your eyes Just allow these words of wisdom into your mind To help you as you enter back into the outward world You are the brightness of the sun,
The infinity of the universe And the magic of the moon Go gently beautiful souls Thank you for taking the time to practice with me today Hurry on,

I came to this YN practice very dysregulated. I fell asleep immediately, woke up in the middle, fell asleep again. I feel slightly better now. Will try this again. The background music had some odd high pitched sounds which borderline bothered me but they were ok once I got used to them.
