by Ishar Keshu
This talk covers the practice of Chakra Journaling. Chakra Journaling is a process of dedicating a prolonged period of time to focus on a particular chakra. This allows you to go deeper into your understanding of how each chakra manifests in your life and is a powerful self-improvement tool.

Hey this is Ish and today we're going to talk about chakra journaling.
Chakra journaling is a process where you focus on one particular chakra at a time and it will be journaling your thoughts related to this particular chakra and things you can work on.
And the key focus here is to spend a couple of days,
Weeks,
And even a month working on a specific chakra one at a time.
And this is because you can look through all the problems in your life and things that are going on through the lens or filter of that one particular chakra.
And this is really useful because you can really get to know yourself and also it's a path of self-development because you can really get deep and into your knowledge and understanding and focus on how you can improve yourself.
So I had originally started this practice of chakra journaling doing my yoga teaching training and this was a couple years ago.
My training was nine months and for each month we focused on one chakra at a time.
So there are seven chakras.
So seven months we focused on chakras and the last two was kind of like integration.
And I found this is really helpful because it took a holistic approach and also I got to really experience myself and learn about myself.
And the way to do this is to chakra journal is to first grab a piece of paper and just write down all your thoughts and feelings related to a particular chakra.
And if you aren't too familiar about the chakras,
Feel free to watch my other talks about that.
But in any case,
You're going to be just putting all the thoughts that you have onto paper and this is actually good for releasing any kind of stuck energy.
So you can look at through different lenses.
So for a four chakra,
For example,
Related to love and compassion,
You can write down all your thoughts related to how you treat others and how if you're giving yourself love and the different ways you're doing that and just kind of just spit all your emotions on the paper.
And then the second step is from there,
Try to find out what you can do to improve any imbalances that you have in a particular chakra.
So there are a couple of different ways of doing this.
The first is to work on the chakra itself.
So in this example,
If you're feeling that you don't have enough loving kindness energy,
You can start practice such as gratitude,
Self-care,
Writing intention lists,
Also writing letters to yourself and also to others and doing random acts of kindness.
So this way you can start to build that emotion or that work on that energy of the healthy four chakra energy.
And another way to also do this,
To work on a particular chakra,
It could be helpful to also work on your solutions that lay one or two levels above your current problem.
So this is kind of related to the paradigm example where the situation,
If you want to solve a particular problem,
You don't solve it at the paradigm in which it's created,
But rather the level above it.
So for example,
If you're stuck into first chakra imbalances such as being really fearful,
The proper course of action is to focus on your third chakra,
Which is a bit higher.
And this relates,
When healthy,
It's related to taking action,
Setting boundaries and goals and just doing things in general,
Personal will and sufficiency.
So just taking action,
Having the courage to push through fears is a great way to ascend in that problem.
If you have a second chakra imbalance,
Such as having a lot of addictions,
The best thing you'll actually do is to work on your third chakra and incorporate goal setting,
Leading a fulfilling life,
Making friends,
And that will help you a lot.
And I just recommend doing that.
So either taking the approach where you work on the chakra itself,
Either getting more energy flowing to that particular problem or less.
Or the second approach is also just focusing on the problem or the solutions,
One or two chakra levels higher.
And some of the things I personally wrote down was,
At the time,
This was a couple years ago,
When I was going through each month and reflecting on what I need to improve on,
I noticed that my third chakra energy in particular was lacking,
Just because during the time I went full yogi,
I had stopped lifting weights,
I had kind of neglected my health a little bit,
Which technically isn't yoga,
But I went from a background to give you context of lifting weights and caring a lot about my external appearance.
And then I went the complete route and I kind of ditched that,
Got rid of my diet plan,
And I went the other way.
So I started to neglect my body,
And I felt that I was lacking both inner strength and outer strength.
So this is actually kind of funny,
But my path to ascendance,
Or to actually work on this particular problem,
Was actually to start paying attention to my appearance and going back to the gym and watching what I eat.
And then another thing for me personally was I was lacking in my fifth chakra energy,
And this was related to creativity and expression.
I wasn't really expressing my true nature.
So things that I personally worked on and wrote down in my journal was,
Okay,
This month I'm going to focus on creating something,
Because that's related to the fifth chakra.
So during that time,
I taught a lot of yoga classes,
I had written down different sequences of things of how I want my classes to be structured.
I didn't make YouTube videos or anything like that yet,
But I had some ideas that I wrote down on the piece of paper.
So that was my particular action.
So it's really illuminating for you,
Just as a practice,
To take some time.
I usually recommend a month if you can really wait that long,
But you can even do a week at a time.
We just have a week where you solely focus on a particular chakra and just notice every single problem in your life or situation through that particular lens,
Because there's a million things you can obviously focus on in your life,
But for this exercise or this practice,
You can focus one chakra at a time.
And really by the end of the seven weeks or the seven months,
One of the cases,
You will come out of it,
The longer it is obviously the better,
But the longer.
.
.
By the end of this,
This whole practice of journaling,
You'll find that you have taken actionable steps on improving different problems that you have or imbalances and correcting that,
And you just feel more integrated.
And that's really a great practice and something to explore.
So I hope this helps.
Thank you.

I'm feeling inspired! And optimistic about strengthening my (fairly inconsistent) journaling practice and approaching chakra work through this method. Hopefully I can easefully stick to it this way. Thanks!

What a lovely & gentle way for one to come into better alignment. Not rushing, but digesting each chakra a week/month at a time.

Such a beautiful way to address the various emotions and states of being. It honors where the person is, and offers ways to elevate perspective. Very useful especially during these challenging times. Thank you.
