This meditation is titled,
Meeting the Creative Self.
Make yourself comfortable.
If it feels right,
Close your eyes.
Take a slow breath in.
And gently breathe out.
One more time,
Breathing in.
And breathing out.
Allow everything we've spoken about today to settle.
You don't need to remember at all.
You don't need to understand at all.
Just allow what belongs to you.
To the main.
Feel your body resting.
Feel the support beneath you.
And imagine now that's somewhere within you.
There is a creative self.
Don't worry about what it looks like.
Don't force an image.
Perhaps it's a younger version of you.
Perhaps it's simply a feeling.
A present.
A curiosity,
A spa.
This is the part of you that existed before anyone told you whether you were talented.
Before comparison.
Before productivity,
Before you learn that some activities were useful and others weren't.
This part of you knows curiosity.
It knows wonder.
It knows play.
Perhaps it has been very quiet.
Perhaps it has been waiting.
Perhaps you've heard it occasionally.
In a bookstore listening to music,
Walking somewhere beautiful,
Watching someone dance,
Seeing a painting,
Reading words that made something inside you stir.
And perhaps you thought.
I would love to do something like that.
Then life continued.
Today,
Don't ask this part of yourself.
What should I create?
That's too much.
Instead ask.
What do you need from me?
What do you need from me?
And listen.
Perhaps the answer is time.
Perhaps play.
Perhaps encouragement,
Perhaps privacy or courage or rest.
Or perhaps simply notice me.
Notice me.
Whatever comes,
Is enough.
Now imagine offering this creative part of yourself,
Your hand.
There is nowhere you need to drag it.
No destination.
No deadline.
You're simply saying.
I am willing to walk with you again.
I am willing to walk with you again.
Think about your morning pages.
Three Simple Pages not a performance.
A meeting place.
Think about your artistry.
A little pocket of time in which curiosity matters.
These practices may look small,
But perhaps small doors open into very large looms.
Take a slope there.
And silently the bead.
I give myself to you.
Permission.
To begin.
I give myself.
Permission.
To be a beginner.
I give myself permission.
To create.
Without knowing where it will lead.
I give myself permission.
To enjoy what does not need to be useful.
I am willing to listen to myself.
I am willing to the tone.
And now imagine the 12 weeks ahead.
Don't try to see the outcome.
Don't imagine some perfected version of yourself standing at week 12.
Instead,
See only the next step.
Tomorrow morning.
A notebook.
A pen.
Three pages.
And sometime this week.
A small adventure,
Something chosen because it interests you.
That's enough.
You don't have to transform your life tonight or today.
You are simply opening a door.
Take another for that.
And say quietly within.
I don't need to know.
Where this journey will lead.
I only need to take the next step.
I welcome.
My creativity.
Rest there for a moment.
And begin noticing your breath again.
Feel the surface beneath you.
Feel your feet.
Notice any sounds around you.
Move your fingers.
Move your toes.
Take one final,
Deeper breath in.
And breathe out slowly.
And whenever you're ready.
Gently open your eyes.
