Hello Insight Timer community.
My name is Lauren Cortese.
Thank you for joining me for this meditation.
Find a position that feels supportive.
Seated,
Reclined,
Or lying down.
Let the surface beneath you hold your weight.
You don't need to fix anything right now.
You only need to be here.
Gently close your eyes or soften your gaze.
Begin by noticing your breath.
Not changing it yet,
Just observing it.
Notice where the breath moves most easily.
The chest,
The belly,
The ribs,
Or the back body.
Now take a slow breath in through the nose and an even slower breath out through the mouth.
Again,
Inhale steady and full.
Exhale long and releasing.
Let your shoulders drop away from your ears.
Let the muscles of your face soften.
Unclench your jaw.
Soften the space behind your eyes.
The world may feel chaotic right now.
There may be noise,
Uncertainty,
Tension,
Or change swirling around you.
Instead of pushing it away,
Imagine placing all of it just outside of this moment.
Close enough to acknowledge,
Far enough to rest.
Bring your attention to one solid point of contact.
That may be your feet on the floor,
Your body in the chair,
Or your back against the ground.
Let this be your anchor.
With each inhale,
Imagine drawing steadiness into your body.
With each exhale,
Imagine releasing what you don't need to carry right now.
If your thoughts are racing,
That's okay.
You're not doing this wrong.
Simply notice the movement of the mind.
Gently guide your attention back to your breath when you notice this.
Now imagine yourself standing in the center of a storm,
But you are calm.
The wind moves around you,
Not through you.
The noise passes by and not into you.
At your core,
There is stillness.
Feel that stillness now.
Quiet,
Grounded,
Unshaken.
Bring one hand to your chest or belly if that feels comforting.
Feel the warmth of your own touch.
Let it remind you,
I am here.
I am safe in this moment.
Silently repeat these words with your breath.
On the inhale,
I am grounded.
On the exhale,
I am steady.
Do that again.
Inhale,
I am grounded.
Exhale,
I am steady.
You may not be able to control the world,
But you can return to yourself again and again.
Let your breath become smooth and easy.
Let your nervous system begin to settle.
Let your body remember what calm feels like,
Even briefly.
Now imagine roots growing from your body into the earth below you.
Strong,
Deep,
Unmoving.
No matter how much the surface shifts,
These roots hold you steady.
Take a slow breath in and a long,
Complete breath out.
Begin to notice the room around you,
The sounds,
The temperature of the air,
The feeling of the ground beneath you.
When you're ready,
Gently open your eyes.
Carry this steadiness with you,
Not as a solution,
But as a reminder.
Even when the world feels chaotic,
There is a place within you that remains calm.
You can return here anytime.
Namaste.
