Hello Insight Timer community.
My name is Lauren Cortese and welcome to this meditation for caregivers.
Take a moment to find a comfortable position,
Seated or lying down,
Somewhere you feel supported.
Allow your hands to rest loosely in your lap or by your sides.
When you're ready,
Gently close your eyes or soften your gaze.
Take a slow,
Deep breath in through your nose and exhale gently through your mouth.
Let's take two more breaths just like that,
Breathing in calm,
Breathing out any tension.
Bring your awareness to the ground beneath you.
Notice how it holds you without question,
Without condition.
Imagine roots extending from your body down into the earth,
Anchoring you,
Giving you a sense of steadiness.
With every breath,
Feel yourself more grounded,
More supported.
Caregiving can be heavy,
Emotionally,
Mentally,
Physically.
Take a deep breath in and imagine gathering up all the weight you carry.
As you exhale,
Imagine setting it down beside you for just this moment.
It will be there when you need it,
But for now,
Give yourself permission to simply be.
Place one hand over your heart and one over your belly.
Feel the warmth beneath your palms.
Silently say to yourself,
I am doing my best.
My care matters.
I deserve moments of rest.
Picture a warm light above your head,
Soft,
Golden,
Comforting.
As you breathe in,
Imagine this light slowly pouring over you like gentle sunshine.
It washes over your head,
Your shoulders,
Your arms,
Your back,
Melting away tension.
The light fills you with calm,
Warmth,
And renewed energy.
Bring awareness back to your breath.
Notice the gentle rise and fall of your chest.
Take a moment of gratitude for yourself,
For the love you offer others,
And for giving yourself these few minutes of care.
When you are ready,
Gently wiggle your fingers and toes.
Take a deep breath in and open your eyes.
Carry this sense of calm with you into the rest of your day.
Namaste.
