Good morning,
And welcome to this practice to help you start your day with a positive feeling and intention of gratitude,
And to act as a reminder that in any given moment,
No matter how we're feeling,
There is always something to be grateful for.
If you haven't already,
Go ahead and gently close your eyes or gaze softly down in front of you.
Start to take slower,
Deeper breaths down into the belly,
Like you're blowing up a balloon,
And then through the mouth,
Exhale,
Maybe with a sigh,
A couple more like that.
Now take your awareness to that connection between you and whatever's beneath you,
Either your seat and a chair,
Or your whole backside if you're lying down,
Just feeling that connection between you and the earth below you.
Allow that connection to help you feel grounded and supported,
Maybe even sinking a little bit deeper into the earth,
Letting yourself feel held.
Beautiful.
Now ask yourself,
Who or what do I appreciate in my life right now?
Who or what do I genuinely appreciate in my life right now?
It could be that you have a home to sleep in,
It could be a loved one,
It could be that you have clean water to drink.
Notice the first thing that comes to mind that you have a true appreciation for in this moment,
And bring all of your attention to it.
Focus on that source of gratitude and imagine that it's this light inside your heart,
And with every breath,
You're allowing that feeling of gratitude,
That light,
To grow.
Use your breath to allow that gratitude to grow,
Letting the light reach every inch and cell of your body,
So much so that it starts to overflow from you.
This light grows and grows and spreads out to the world.
Now maybe with a hand on your heart,
Repeat the following phrases after me.
Thank you for this new day.
Thank you for my life.
I move through my day with gratitude.
I invite you to extend gratitude to yourself for taking the time to do this practice and show yourself love in this way,
And then taking as much time as you'd like,
Whenever you feel ready,
You can slowly and gently open your eyes.
I hope you have a beautiful day.
