Hello and welcome,
This is Laia.
Let's dive right in.
Bring yourself to a seated shape,
Or maybe let yourself lie down on the ground or on your bed,
Giving yourself a moment to become as comfortable as you can,
Just for now.
Wiggle any restlessness as you move your head from side to side,
Or perhaps move your fingers and toes,
Eventually bringing yourself to stillness.
And if it's comfortable for you,
Feel free to soften your gaze or even close your eyes.
Inhale deeply through your nose,
Letting the breath expand in your belly,
Your ribcage and your chest.
Maybe you squeeze the tension out of the body.
As you exhale,
Let it all go.
Take a moment to notice your environment as you hear the sounds near and far,
As you feel the temperature of the space that you are in,
Drawing your attention closer and closer to you as you attune more and more to the rhythm of your breath.
Inhale through your nose,
Exhale through your nose or your mouth.
Begin to observe what's going on in your physical body,
Perhaps realizing some of the tension that you're holding on to is no longer necessary.
So with each in-breath,
Feel whatever is there to be felt.
And with each exhale,
Let something go,
Soften,
Relax.
Breathe in deeply,
Breathe out completely.
Let the cadence of the breath become the cadence of the pulse within you.
Let your awareness be where you return anytime your mind wanders.
Let the space between one thought and the next matter more than any subject that may arise,
Any suggestion of the mind,
Any fluctuation,
No matter how important it may seem.
Can you recognize the importance in the present moment?
Inhale deeply and let it go.
Bring your palms together in front of your heart in Anjali Mudra and bow your head in gratitude for this moment of pause and awareness.
May you continue to find this moment of mindfulness throughout your day.
Be well.
