Stress and tension can creep in when we do too much, stretch ourselves too thin, and forget to make space to let go, be present, and reset. Give yourself some time to connect to how you feel and to your breath, allowing space for tension and stress to begin to dissolve as you shift your attention. We finish this practice with some affirmations.

Hello,

Welcome to this guided meditation.

My name is Laya.

If you find yourself here,

Perhaps you feel burdened by stress,

Anxiety or worry.

We often experience physical,

Mental and emotional strain as we live through adverse and highly demanding circumstances day in and day out.

And yet not all stress is bad per se.

Good stress helps you meet your daily challenges and motivates you to reach your goals and it makes you happier and a healthier person.

But then bad stress,

This stress,

Is the kind that wears you out and leads to anxiety,

Decreased performance and it's harmful to your health.

Let's take a few moments to settle into the space.

Find a place to sit down with your feet firmly planted on the earth or lie down if you rather.

Rest your hands somewhere on your body with your palms facing down and make yourself oh so comfortable,

So cozy,

Allowing your body to be fully supported.

Soften your gaze or close your eyes if you'd like.

Take a really deep breath in through your nose.

Expand your belly,

Your ribcage,

Your chest and hold at the top,

Observing any tension and stress that build up.

When you're ready,

Powerfully exhale through your mouth,

Letting it all go.

At the bottom of the breath,

Pause and take a deep,

Deep expansive inhale again.

Hold at the top,

Observe the build up of energy,

The density and whenever you're ready,

Sigh it out and let go.

Is there any release you can start to witness?

Perhaps in the muscles of your face,

Around your eyes or your jaw may begin to unclench,

Your neck or your shoulders may begin to soften and soften and soften.

Exhale deeply,

Expand front to back,

Side to side and top to bottom.

Hold,

Allowing the tension to build up one last time,

Perhaps clench your fists in your jaw,

Squeeze your muscles and once you're ready,

Release and let it all go.

Return to a rhythm of breath that you can maintain,

Allowing the inhales and the exhales to be equal in length.

Every time you breathe in deeply into your abdomen,

You signal to your nervous system that it is okay to slow down.

Allow your breath to intentionally go deeper and deeper into your abdomen,

Becoming more spacious,

Letting your body know that you are safe.

Right here,

Right now,

You are safe.

Breathe in deeply and breathe out completely.

When we experience stress,

Oftentimes it is because we focus on the worst case scenario,

The sharp edges.

We focus on the distinctive tone of self-defeating,

Negative inner dialogue.

We allow our imagination to run wild with what ifs and with vivid images of how things could go wrong,

How it all could indeed fall apart if you dared relax or let your guard down just for a moment.

But only for one more moment,

Acknowledge what is stressing you right now,

What's causing this feeling of overwhelm,

What is making your breath shallow and your thoughts unspeakable.

Notice that the stress is real and often necessary to keep us going,

To keep us alive.

Yet in this moment,

Choose to breathe,

To slow down,

To be present and to soften because you are safe right now.

Consider what would happen if just for now,

You focused on the best possible outcome.

Just for now,

Instead of burdening yourself with all the ways in which things could go wrong,

You gave yourself the creative freedom to imagine all the incredible ways in which it all could go right.

Let yourself feel a deep stillness rising from within as you feel anchored and present with your breath.

Can you be reunited with a state of love and peace?

Trust that everything is unfolding perfectly in this moment.

Breathe in through your nose as your stomach expands and out through your mouth as your stomach contracts.

Feeling your inhales equal the length of your exhales.

Enjoy being present with this loving vibration as you repeat or listen to the following affirmations.

I am letting go of all my worries and fears.

I am releasing my concerns by breathing slowly and deeply.

I am open to all the creative possibilities for everything to work out in the highest,

Most loving way.

I choose to respond to situations from a place of peace.

I am reclaiming my power one day at a time,

One breath at a time.

I am in harmony and balance with life.

Inhale deeply through your nose.

Open your mouth and let it all go.

Feel yourself getting lighter and freer,

Yet at the same time more rooted,

More present,

More grounded.

Witnessing yourself become open to a myriad of wonderful limitless opportunities.

The lighter you become,

The freer you are from anything that has been weighing you down.

In this moment you can relax fully trusting in the path that is unfolding before you.

Breathe.

Soften.

This feeling with you,

Let it linger just a little bit longer.

As you begin to bring your awareness back to your physical body,

Moving a bit.

Feel your feet planted on the ground.

As you still feel this lightness around and within you.

Take one last deep breath in.

Expanding in all directions.

Let it go.

Once you feel complete,

Open your eyes.

I truly hope that some of this stress has been released and that you feel grounded,

Present and yet softer and lighter.

I look forward to meditating with you again soon.

Until we meet again,

Be well.
