Eagle And Sky
A guided meditation that begins with a short body scan. It moves into healing imagery based on the Sky. This is designed for relaxation, sleep and natural healing. Bring attention to the breath, to the inflow and outflow of your breath, as you gently close your eyes.
Transcript
Eagle and Sky.
These planet meditations are designed for you to sit with the beautiful elements and life in all its glorious creation on our earth as you quiet yourself to be here right now.
They can be used as a metaphor as in the classic lake or mountain meditation in the mindfulness series.
They can be used to return you to your sense of oneness with the whole planet or you could simply enjoy them and relax.
I hope you can use them in a way that resonates for you.
If you have a suggestion for something in the natural world that you would like me to create a meditative moment around please feel free to contact me via email,
Instagram or Facebook.
Blessings,
Mai te.
I invite you to take a couple of full breaths,
Letting the air out slowly,
And bringing your attention to your breath,
To the inflow and outflow of your breath as you gently close your eyes.
I'm beginning now to notice any sensations you can feel in your body,
Beginning to notice how it feels for you in this moment.
What sensations might you notice in your body right now,
Right here?
Bringing your attention to your body and gently scanning slowly down as you breathe from your head,
Neck,
Shoulders,
Chest,
Back,
Tummy,
Hips,
Buttocks,
Thighs,
Calves and finally feeling into your feet.
Noticing the sensations in your feet and in your toes.
Perhaps your toes are touching or maybe they're apart.
Whatever you notice just becoming aware of these sensations with a sense of gentle curiosity.
Nothing to do about them,
Simply becoming aware.
Bringing your focus into your body now and into the sensations that you may feel and perhaps you can sense tingling or maybe numbness.
Perhaps there's a sense of tightness somewhere in your body,
Just breathing in and out and allowing all sensations to just be.
Bringing this kind,
Compassionate curiosity to all your feeling in your body.
Sensing where your body makes contact perhaps with the surface supporting you.
Your heels or calves or shoulder blades pressing into the floor of your life.
Whatever you sense just noticing.
Your feet on the ground if you're sitting,
The chair beneath you and just letting be.
Just allowing whatever you find and noticing it.
And now bringing your awareness up through your body and into your lungs.
Noticing the feeling of the air entering and leaving your lungs.
Breathing in and out and noticing the movement of your body as it fills with air and the movement as the air leaves again.
Perhaps you can notice that pause,
The pause on the in-breath just before you let your breath go and the pause on the out-breath before you draw new clean air in.
Simply bringing awareness to your breath on your own natural ebb and flow.
Maybe noticing that your body knows what to do in every moment and with each breath.
And now bringing your awareness to the sensation of your breath on your face.
Maybe noticing the sensations on your cheeks or just below your nose or over your chin as you breathe in and as you breathe out.
What's the temperature of the air like?
Perhaps noticing it might be cooler as you breathe in or warmer as you breathe out.
However it is for you.
Just bringing your awareness to the feeling of your breath on your face.
Nothing to do here or change,
Nothing to decide.
No rights or wrongs,
Just lying or sitting here supported by the ground on which you rest.
Breathing naturally,
Noticing what's happening for you in this moment in your body.
And now bringing your awareness to any thoughts which may be coming up and no need to push them away.
Just let them arrive and leave again as you lie here.
Returning your attention to your breath.
And now bringing into your mind the image of a wide open sky.
As you lie here seeing this image of your sky,
It might be a picture of a sky you once saw or an image from a film or a sky that you know well.
You remember seeing a memory or maybe simply a sky in your imagination.
Just seeing this beautiful fast sky lying here supported as you visualize your own open sky.
What color is your sky?
Is it a bright blue?
Maybe it's steely dark grey.
Maybe your sky is a soft pale white.
Perhaps you have clouds in your sky.
There could be just a few wisps.
Many blankets and layers of dense clouds.
Or perhaps there are towering dark thunderclouds.
Seeing your sky just as it is.
And noticing all you can of it.
What's the weather in your sky doing just now?
Is it hot and clear?
Or is it raining perhaps?
Or maybe it's changing and turbulent with thunder and lightning.
Large hailstones thrashing down to the ground below.
And listening now to what are the sounds like in your sky.
Do you have wind flowing through your sky buffeting as it pushes the waves of heavy rain?
Or just a gentle breeze sounding like a soft whistle as it travels through your sky.
And past the tops of the mountains.
Or maybe your sky has a violent angry wind screaming and howling as it passes through.
Or your sky may be completely silent.
With the peace broken only by the cries of the eagle as she wheels and soars high in the atmosphere.
And now bringing your attention to the space of your sky.
Noticing that even with all these things,
The tempests of wind.
The birds passing through.
The rain and clouds.
The moon and the sun.
The sky space holds it all.
Your sky is always the same.
Whatever colours,
Whatever weather,
Whatever birds or planes or clouds pass by.
The airy space of your sky is always the same,
Always there,
Silent and still.
The unmoving,
Unchanging space that holds all these things.
Even the rising sun and the sinking moon and the seasons as they come and go.
The airy space of your sky is always here being the background to all that comes and goes.
And changing vast depth of air and space.
And now if you can see yourself as this sky.
So as you lie here now,
Supported by the ground beneath you.
Bring the image of yourself being a vast sky.
And sometimes your clouds will gather and build.
Sometimes you may be filled with angry storms.
And sometimes your storms may bring icy rain that lasts for days.
Or hot,
Blistering,
Unrelenting sun.
Sometimes the weather will keep changing fast,
Confused.
Sometimes the moon power will charge you with crackling tension.
And sometimes perhaps your sun will shine its heat day after day.
And sometimes you'll be a perfect blue with gentle winds and soft clouds passing through with ease.
But seeing yourself now as your sky.
And noticing whatever is going on in you.
Whatever is passing through you as the sky.
Always behind it all is your own vast space.
Your own unending depth of air,
Silent and softly holding it all.
So even when your storms come and go.
And no matter what is happening in you.
Or around you.
Becoming aware of your own still,
Deep source.
Fast,
Spacious,
Unchanging.
And always available to you.
So seeing that even as our suns may rise.
And our moons may lower.
Over the days,
Nights,
Weeks and months of the year.
The years may change.
But you,
The sky,
Are simply holding it all.
And changing,
Nurturing,
Wise.
And now,
Gently leaving your sky.
Returning to your breath.
To your inflow and outflow.
To the rhythms of your body and becoming aware of the ground holding you.
And perhaps the sounds around you.
And when you hear the chime.
And very slowly opening your eyes.
Moving your hands and feet.
Perhaps wriggling your fingers and toes.
Taking a stretch in whatever way feels right for you.
And smiling.
Blessings and may you feel the spaciousness of our beautiful sky this week.
