This is a great workplace meditation to do at the end of the day. We'll spend a few minutes considering your workspace and what you need around you. Welcome to Wonder Bull.

Today we're going to spend a few minutes thinking about the state of our workspace.

Have you heard of the Japanese taidian guru Marie Kondo?

She's even got her own Netflix series.

Her latest book is called Joy at Work,

And it's all about how a tidy workspace can help us find a way through the clutter of our working life to see what's most important.

Taking notice of the things around us is a key concept of mindfulness too.

So we're going to spend a few minutes focusing on the space around us.

This is just a teaser,

But what you might decide is a much bigger project.

In a nutshell,

The aim is to have a place for everything and to make sure everything is in its place.

So just spend a few minutes looking at the state of your workspace.

Take some time to notice all the things you have around you in this space.

What things are not in their place?

Can you put them away?

What is your biggest obstacle to a tidy desk?

Is it paper,

Books,

Or other clutter?

Marie Kondo's method asks you to discard anything that doesn't have you moving towards where you want to be,

Or doesn't spark joy.

The idea is to make time regularly to assess the things that surround us and ask if they are really necessary.

It's a way of taking mindfulness to our physical space,

Because a tidy desk makes it easier to focus and be productive.

Maybe Friday afternoon is a good time to block in some time for tidying.

If your physical space is already tidy,

You can turn your attention to your digital clutter,

Or even your diary.

What can you do to tidy up your calendar and make sure the things you have scheduled really reflect what's most important to you?

I'll leave you with some music to finish this tidying task,

So you can gently and mindfully question the stuff that surrounds your working life.

Good on you for making this time.

Thanks for being here.
