Welcome to Wonderable.
How are you doing?
This is day 21 of our Mindfulness in Isolation course.
Can I ask,
How is your house looking?
For some,
All this time spent at home will result in immaculate housekeeping.
But for some of us,
Cleaning has been a lower priority.
It can feel futile in a chaotic house.
But what if time spent cleaning could also be time for growing your mindfulness habit?
Today,
We're going to explore some mindful cleaning at the bathroom sink.
So pause for a minute to grab what you need.
And let's do it together.
Are you ready?
Okay.
So as we clear up the bathroom,
We're going to also clear up the mind.
And we'll do that like we often do,
By focusing in on the senses.
First,
Take a deep breath in and out.
Let go of tension.
This is a space for you to reset and escape any worries.
We're going to start with the sink.
Let's tune into this ordinary task with all of our senses.
Enjoy the sounds and the sensation of the water.
Watch it as it runs down the drain.
Notice all the details of the sink as you wipe it clean.
And notice all the details of the taps.
Now let's clean the mirror.
As you clean and wipe the mirror,
Pay attention to all the details.
Engage your senses again.
What can you smell?
Notice the light and the lines on the mirror as you wipe it clean and dry.
What sound does the cloth make on the mirror?
When you're done,
Take a moment to enjoy the satisfaction of that clean,
Clear mirror.
Give yourself a smile.
Go on.
If you can find a way to make life's little chores a bit more enjoyable,
Think of how much more pleasure you can extract from life.
And a few minutes of mindful cleaning each day can transform a big task into a manageable one.
I'm going to leave you with some music so you can keep going.
One day at a time.
Thanks for being here.
You're welcome.
