This exercise will help you to feel connected to yourself and it can also be used if you feel overwhelmed or flooded by someone else's emotions or stress going on around you.
Let's begin by settling into our bodies.
Start by noticing your breath.
Take a few breaths in and out at a gentle pace to connect with your body.
Next,
Begin to imagine that a calming stream of light begins to come down from the sky.
This light could be from a higher power,
From the universe,
From Mother Earth,
From the sun.
Whatever feels right for you is okay.
Notice if there's a color that came to mind or that feels right for this light.
Is there a shade or a texture to the light?
Perhaps it's a bright white or purple.
Maybe it's glittering.
Take a moment to land on what feels right for you.
Next,
Begin to imagine that this beam of light streams down and begins to flood in beginning at the crown of your head.
With each breath,
Notice how this stream of light begins to move through your entire body.
Starting with your head and neck,
Your shoulders,
Your arms.
Notice this light moving through your wrists all the way to the tips of your fingers,
Into your chest and belly,
Down your back,
Filling your whole torso.
The light floods into your hips,
Down into your legs,
Through your knees and calves,
Ankles and feet,
All the way down into the floor.
Allow this stream of light to fill up every cell with a soothing,
Grounding,
Bright presence.
Know that this energy is abundant.
The more that you use,
The more there is,
The more that's available to you.
And see if you can notice what happens to your body as this beam of light fills your entire being.
Now,
Imagine that this beam of light expands to fill in the space around your body,
Almost like a bubble.
Feel into how much distance or closeness feels right for this bubble to have.
Perhaps you're wanting it to stay close to you,
Or perhaps you're wanting room and space.
Notice what happens when you can trust that this space is yours and that this energy,
This light,
Will protect you from others' needs or wants,
Emotions or problems.
Stay with this bubble and notice what happens in your body.
Is there a settling?
Is there a stillness?
Is there energy moving around?
You're welcome to feel into the space around you and make any movements that help you know that this boundary,
This bubble,
This light is here for you.
Know that you don't have to do any work to keep this light and this bubble up.
It's coming from that unlimited and abundant source.
Take a few breaths here,
Just observing what happens when you settle in to this space.
Take another moment here noticing what it's like to have this energetic barrier and to notice if anything feels more available to you.
How might having this boundary impact your communication or your confidence,
Maybe your distance or closeness to others?
Do you have more clarity about what you need or about what you're feeling?
Take another two breaths here.
Know that this bubble can stay with you as long as you would like.
This is something that's always available to you.
