This meditation is all about the magic of the in-between.
The in-between is the space between.
It could be the space between finishing one job and starting another.
It could be the space between becoming an empty nester and then moving on with the next chapter of your life.
It could be the space between lunch and dinner.
It could be the space between knowing you've got this exciting move coming up and yet having every month away.
It could be the space of pregnancy and that could be pregnancy with the birth of a child or the birth of an idea.
The space between is a part of our daily life and so many times we get so uncomfortable,
So impatient,
So squirmy about the space in between.
And in this meditation we are going to settle in to the magic of the space in between.
So get yourself into your meditation position sitting,
Lying down,
Legs up the wall,
Sitting in a chair,
Sitting on a cushion,
Whatever feels good to you.
Arrive in your meditation.
Close your eyes or you can kind of half close them and just stare with light focus in front of you.
Allow your body to fully arrive here,
Right here,
Right now.
So let's start with a quick scan starting with your feet.
Bring your feet here.
Notice where they are in space.
What's touching your feet?
Bring them right here.
Your lower legs.
Bring them right here.
Your upper legs.
Bring them right here.
Your butt.
Make sure it is right here,
Right where you are rooted.
Your back.
Allow your back to feel long and strong and relaxed.
There is no set way that you have to be,
No set position that you have to be in.
Whatever works for you,
Whatever feels comfortable for you.
Settle into that position.
Address your shoulders.
Relax them.
Bring them down away from your ears.
Bring them right here.
Your jaw.
Relax it.
Bring it right here.
You have nowhere else to be.
Nothing else to do.
And then your brain,
Your mind.
Even as the thoughts swirl in and out of your mind,
Allow your mind to be right here.
Just keep coming back to right here.
You are in the space in between.
It might feel uncomfortable and you can do uncomfortable.
There is so much bravery in sitting in the in between and not fighting it and not trying to push forward and not trying to pull back and simply being right here.
And there is so much magic here.
So let's find it.
Bring your attention to your breath.
And to help,
You can put a hand on your belly or on your chest.
You can notice your breath at your belly,
At your chest,
Maybe at your nostrils.
Maybe try on all three.
It could be different every single day.
We're going to note means we're going to label every time we feel an inhale,
You're going to note inhale.
And every time you feel an exhale,
You're going to note exhale.
We're not counting here.
We just have two things to notice the inhale and the exhale.
Okay.
So notice where the inhale begins and where the inhale ends.
You don't have to note it.
You're simply saying inhale quietly in your mind.
Just noticing the start and end of the inhale.
Now notice the start and the end of the exhale.
You're still just noting inhale and exhale.
Now,
Notice the space in between.
We don't breathe inhale,
Exhale,
Inhale,
Exhale,
Inhale,
Exhale.
We breathe inhale,
Pause,
Exhale,
Pause,
Inhale.
And guess what's in between the inhale and the exhale and the exhale and the inhale.
That's the space in between.
That's where the magic comes in.
So continue noting inhale and exhale.
And don't just ignore that space in between.
I want you to settle into that space in between.
It's going to be a different length every single time.
And just imagine when you're in that space in between that you are opening yourself up to magic.
So it's like inhale,
Magic,
Exhale,
Magic.
You of course do not need to say the word magic,
But if it helps you can.
You can just imagine yourself opening up or you can simply be in that space.
Staying present right here right now.
Inhale,
Magic,
Exhale,
Magic.
Inhale,
Magic,
Exhale,
Magic.
Inhale,
Magic,
Exhale,
Magic.
And when you feel complete,
Slowly wiggle your fingers and your toes.
Maybe circle your wrists and your ankles and come back to present.
And remember that wherever you are,
There is so much magic around you and within you.
I love you.
