Hello,

This is Kelly Kaye.

I am a coach and a meditation teacher and I'm going to be talking about embracing the magic of starting before you are ready and I wanted to give you the warmest welcome for being here today.

I wanted you to keep in mind as you listen that we can sometimes get lulled into thinking that we need to spend a lot of time and effort and do some real heavy lifting to create the shifts we want to see in our lives and I am here to offer you a gentle reminder the transformation you want and the peace you are craving can happen in an instant.

So let's uncover some core elements to embracing the magic of starting before you are ready.

This will give you a deeper understanding that will expand your awareness enabling you to look not from what I like to call the judgmental jungle but with compassionate curiosity.

Now humans are hardwired to seek pleasure,

Avoid pain and conserve energy and I want you to notice the word hardwired.

That word means built in,

Already in the operating system.

We can refer to this as the primitive brain or the motivational triad.

This primitive brain with its evolutionary blueprint has helped humanity survive some pretty harsh conditions and very dangerous threats.

However,

In today's present world it can easily convince us to wait for that perfect moment,

A moment that in reality is never coming.

That in reality is never coming.

Let me explain.

Those key principles of the sneaky motivational triad,

Seeking pleasure,

Avoiding pain and conserving energy can sound very well intended in the moment but can often lead to procrastination,

Stagnation and usually some pretty rough judgments of ourselves.

Starting anything new according to the primitive brain is a presumed danger that would expend too much energy and with a good possibility of some kind of imagined pain occurring and it would have us running back in the cave or in these more modern times grabbing that remote and clicking through Netflix or picking up that phone and scrolling through our Instagram feed.

It's constantly wanting to seek the relief of not feeling the perceived pressure,

Not expending the energy,

Not feeling the pain and instead pursuing the momentary pleasures that bring temporary relief.

Although useful in certain situations,

The primitive brain has turned into more couch potato than fierce protector of impending danger.

Becoming more like a spoiled child who is shouting,

I want it now and just like trying to reason with a toddler throwing a tantrum,

Usually best to just let that tantrum run its course.

The next element is understanding the illusion of readiness.

The illusion of readiness suggests that you must feel completely prepared and certain of success before embarking on a new venture.

The concept of being ready is often hailed as a prerequisite for action.

However,

This notion of readiness can be very deceptive,

Creating a barrier that prevents us from taking that first crucial step.

This stems from us waiting for perfect circumstances and more importantly,

Our innate desire for safety.

These emotions can lead to excess planning and preparation,

Which will definitely delay action.

This waiting game is often availed for underlying feelings of anxiety and insecurities.

The reality is that circumstances are seldom perfect or if they feel perfect today,

No,

Just wait for tomorrow.

In fact,

Waiting for perfect conditions often masks deeper fears of failure and judgment.

The truth is waiting for perfection is nothing more than an illusion that keeps us stuck in inactivity.

Be aware that perfect conditions are like a mirage in the desert of procrastination,

Always visible in the distance but never quite reachable.

Moving on to the element of activating the universe's assistance.

Most of us are likely familiar with the Bible verse,

Ask and it shall be given,

Seek and ye shall find,

Knock and the door shall be open.

This biblical verse echoes across various belief systems that declares when you actively pursue dreams or start new ventures,

Opportunities that were previously unseen begin to emerge.

But we have forgotten the basic idea that sets this principle in motion and that is the universe is waiting for us instead of us waiting for the universe.

Once you start moving forward,

You may notice that things begin to happen with greater ease,

With greater ease are almost like magic.

Entering a flow state where actions and decisions seem to unfold effortlessly.

By starting,

You open doors to the universe's assistance that would have previously remained closed.

You are sending a sign to the universe that you are ready to receive guidance and support.

This momentum can feel as if the universe itself is propelling you forward,

Smoothing out your path,

Almost as if the universe is paving a way for you.

The last pivotal element is the practice of starting before you are ready.

And although this may sound counterintuitive to starting,

It can act as a powerful bridge that allows you to convert information into transformation.

It's a preemptive approach that not only helps you observe how you are using your time,

But more importantly,

Trains your brain to override the hesitancy caused by our primitive brain's pleasure-seeking tendencies.

To initiate these preemptive strikes,

You simply start whatever undertaking that is in your normal schedule currently and begin the process just a nudge earlier.

Practicing beginning tasks before you feel entirely ready or needing to do them.

Let me give you some examples I've used in my own life.

If I normally intend for all electronic devices to be off at 10 o'clock,

I will purposely turn them off at 9 45 instead.

And if I need to leave the house in the morning by 9 o'clock,

I will intentionally leave just a little bit early,

Not waiting for that last second to leave.

Same when I have to make a dreaded phone call by a certain time.

By resolving to do it before it's necessary empowers me to strengthen that muscle of starting before I am ready.

And it gets a jump start on the primitive brain's desire to stay cozy in the cave.

I want you to notice that these aren't drastic changes,

But practicing starting before you are ready will transform your approach by relaxing those strong emotions and allowing you to observe the resistance that could be halting you from actually beginning and living the life of your dreams.

I really want to encourage you to turn your entire journey into a dynamic classroom by embracing the magic of starting before you are ready.

And just watch as your path unfolds in ways you could have never planned,

Almost like magic.

I love this inspiring quote by the dear Alan Cohen.

Do not wait until the conditions are perfect to begin.

Beginning makes the conditions perfect.

It has been my absolute pleasure connecting with you today.

I would love to hear from you even if you feel like you're not ready,

Are worried it won't be the perfect thing to say,

And begin right now to embrace the magic of starting before you are ready.

You matter and I am always,

Always here for you.
