Our soul longs to live vibrantly, fully aligned with our life’s purpose. Just like we must practice becoming skilled at anything we wish to master, it takes training to return to the flow of the present moment. In this practice, you will free any speed that is trapped in your body as you align with the flow, while your body rests in stillness and ease. “Patience is the training in abiding with the restlessness of our energy and letting things evolve at their own pace". -Pema Chodron

Welcome to Yoga Nidra.

Before this practice,

It would be useful to have a few blankets,

A pillow,

And even a bolster.

We so often get caught up in the rush of our day to day.

We feel a sense of accomplishment in doing all the things.

Our bodies literally spin in the momentum and it's challenging to sit peacefully and release into the present moment.

When we do stop,

We often crash,

Sleep,

And wake up the next morning to do it all over again.

Over time,

Speed accumulates in our bodies.

Our soul longs to live vibrant,

Fully aligned,

And in our life's purpose.

Just like we must practice to become skilled at anything we wish to master,

It takes training to bring ourselves back to the flow of the present moment.

In this practice,

You will free any speed that is trapped in your body and you will align with the flow of the universe while your body rests in stillness and in ease.

Patience is the training and abiding with the restlessness of our energy and letting things evolve at their own speed.

Pema Chodron To prepare to settle into deep relaxation,

Bring a pillow or bolster to rest under your knees.

Roll another blanket and place under your ankles.

And then lie down using a blanket or a pillow under your head and neck.

Lie back into your support and begin to settle into this supported Shavasana.

We are going to move through a guided awareness practice to help draw the mind and senses inward.

As we progress,

You may not hear everything I say.

This is completely fine.

Some of you may even feel as if you are sleeping.

This is also completely fine.

Whatever happens is fine and just right for you right now.

We will do a guided awareness and then there will be silence.

Inhale… Sigh your exhale.

Now feel your natural breath.

Your body already knows how much breath it needs so you can let your breath be natural.

Your breath may change during the practice,

Becoming more shallow,

Subtle,

And faint.

Or your breathing may become long and deep.

Whatever happens with your breathing is fine and just right for you right now.

Our sankalpa for this practice is a contemplation coming from Pema Chodron.
