Hello and welcome to your meditation.
Today's meditation is going to focus on our inner child.
So if you want to pause the meditation and find a picture of your little self,
Please feel free to pause and do that now.
Welcome back.
You have found a picture of your little self.
I want you to set this picture of your little self,
Or if you don't have a picture of you as a younger person,
I want you to call to mind a time in your childhood where you felt safe,
Where you felt loved,
And where you felt secure.
And I want you to look at this picture of your little self,
Your inner child,
Or call to mind that picture in your mind.
And I want you to say all the things that this little child needed to hear before the world came in and started to change you.
Little self,
You are so special and you are so kind.
You can do and be anything you want.
You do not need to listen to those outside voices,
Those voices that think they know better for you than you do.
And little self,
All the answers are inside of you.
You are smart and resilient.
And if you listen to your intuition,
That inner voice,
And allow it to guide you,
You'll be honoring your life and who you are.
Let's pause here for a moment,
Taking some breaths into our body,
Noticing how we feel.
A long smooth inhale through your nose with a slight pause at the top,
And open mouth exhale release.
And a few more breaths like that,
Long slow deep full inhale with a pause at the top of your breath,
And exhale open mouth sigh it out.
So as you're taking these nice smooth full breaths,
As you exhale I invite you to release any stories,
Any narratives,
Any phrases or words or voices that don't resonate with you any longer,
That you can release and let go.
They no longer have any hold over you as an adult.
I invite you to listen to that inner voice,
That inner child,
When you get hurt or you begin to notice certain emotions rising up.
I want you to see if you can begin to explore where these emotions and feelings are coming from.
When we are triggered as adults,
It could be due to something that happened,
A story that we have and we're holding on to,
That we believe is true.
So when your inner child starts to cry out in these emotions,
Sadness,
Overwhelm,
Anger,
Anxiety,
I invite you to explore what's going on inside of you.
What is your inner child trying to tell you?
And what can you say to your inner child?
When we're angry perhaps we need to soothe that inner child and tell them it'll be okay and it's okay to be angry,
It's okay to be sad,
It's okay to be frustrated.
All of these emotions are normal because if we were not meant to feel them we wouldn't have been given them.
But think of your emotions and your feelings as a clue to explore and nurture yourself.
Be easy and gentle on yourself.
We tend to judge ourselves so harshly,
Yet we allow people so much grace.
Let's extend that grace towards ourselves and forgive ourselves for our emotions knowing that it's normal and completely fine to have these feelings.
But can we get to the root of them?
Can we take that inner child and can we care for them?
Give them that care and love that maybe you did not get when you were little.
Let's pause here for a moment,
Again taking some breaths into our body,
Noticing what's happening in our mind and what we're feeling and allowing the breath to move that emotion and feeling through our bodies so we can find some peace and stillness in our bodies and our hearts and our minds.
Begin to bring some movement to your hands and to your feet,
Gently waking up your body if you're seated or if you're on your back.
Coming to a comfortable seat,
On your next inhale reach your arms up and overhead.
And exhale bring down that divine universal energy to your heart center that vibrates as the frequency of love.
Thank you so much for joining me for this inner child meditation.
The light in me salutes and honors the light in you.
Namaste.
