Good.
And now at this point,
You can keep your eyes open if you like.
If your eyes are open,
You can just look at a particular spot across the way.
Otherwise,
If it's comfortable for you to close down your eyelids,
Let your eyes be closed softly,
Your eyelids softly,
Your eyes gentle behind them.
And draw a breath into your belly.
If it helps you,
You can take your right hand and place it on your navel and then move it up just a little bit.
And that's the spot you want to take an inhale into.
So inhale into the belly and you'll feel your hand rise.
And then as you exhale,
You'll feel your hand fall on the rhythm of your own breath,
Inhaling into your hand and exhaling,
Letting the belly rise and fall on the rhythm of your own breath and once you've got this spot in your belly,
If you'd like,
You can take your hand away.
And as we spend another few moments here with this belly breathing,
I'd like to invite you into the intention for this meditation of the state of grace,
State of grace,
Grace.
It's not so much something that we can go and get that we can do.
Grace seems to be something that's given.
Maybe the way that we can open to grace is with gratitude.
Learning to feel grateful.
There seems to be a lot of,
A lot of suffering around these days at different levels and gradations.
Maybe it's just a little low grade suffering,
Not quite happy or various other things.
So how can we be that lighthouse?
That beacon seems to start with us.
We can shift into gratitude and we can be that light.
Gratitude seems to be that shift in any given moment.
There is something,
Even if it's a simple breath.
So we'll practice an affirmation here in just a moment and we'll focus on this resting state of gratefulness,
Of allowing yourself to feel what it feels like inside,
Within you,
This gratefulness.
We're not going to control the breath anymore.
Allow it to come naturally in and out through the nose.
Check in with your posture.
See that you're sitting comfortably.
If you're sitting in a chair,
Feet flat on the floor,
Sit with a nice upright spine,
Shoulder blades drawn together gently.
Check for any tension in your jaw,
At the shoulders or upper back.
See if that tension wants to release as you begin to tune in to the words of this affirmation and specifically to the feeling beneath the words.
My resting state is gratitude.
I feel the sweet touch of gratitude,
Gentle and pure abiding within me.
And so it is through these eyes that I look upon the world and I say thank you,
Thank you,
Thank you.
My resting state is gratitude.
I feel the sweet touch of gratitude,
Gentle and pure abiding within me.
And so it is through these eyes that I look upon the world and I say thank you,
Thank you,
Thank you.
As you begin to memorize the words of the affirmation,
You're welcome to say it out loud to yourself so that you can hear it.
My resting state is gratitude.
I feel the sweet touch of gratitude,
Gentle and pure abiding within me.
And so it is with these eyes that I look upon the world and I say thank you,
Thank you,
Thank you.
My resting state is gratitude.
I feel the sweet touch of gratitude,
Gentle and pure abiding within me.
And so it is with these eyes that I look upon the world and I say thank you,
Thank you,
Thank you.
If you're saying out loud,
Just in a whisper,
My resting state is gratitude.
I feel the sweet touch of gratitude,
Gentle and pure abiding within me.
And so it is with these eyes that I look upon the world.
I say thank you,
Thank you,
Thank you.
Just in your mind now,
My resting state is gratitude.
I feel the sweet touch of gratitude,
Gentle and pure abiding within me.
And so it is with these eyes that I look upon the world and I say thank you,
Thank you,
Thank you.
Allowing the words of the affirmation and the feeling beneath the words to stay with you for a few moments,
Letting the affirmation go.
Now,
Behind your closed eyelids,
Draw your gaze gently upward toward the point between your eyebrows,
Gently,
No straining with the gaze.
And imagine there now that you are still glass lake,
Clear.
Your being within you is this lake and with a single touch on the water,
It's gratitude.
Ripples and allows this pure,
Gentle gratitude to open within you.
Allow yourself to feel this gratefulness.
You can let the visual go,
But for just another moment,
Allow yourself to be here in this space to whatever extent you feel,
Let yourself feel.
This peace.
Now,
Take a normal breath in and out.
Prepare to come back to the space where you are.
And when you're ready,
You can flutter open your eyelids or stay like this for as long as you like.
Thank you.
