Good morning,
I'm so happy that you're here today.
Today's meditation was inspired by a random swim workout I had with a friend and I am an athlete and it just got me thinking about the thoughts that we allow in our head when it comes to comparing ourselves to other people and how that really takes us away from who we truly are and the power and the beauty of us.
So if you have ever felt a little dim because you've compared yourself to others,
I know we've all been there,
I hope you can find some comfort and some peace in these words.
This is a story of triumph,
A story of defeat,
A story of will,
Mindset and lessons that will leave you on your feet.
The story is laced with pain,
Spotted with tenderness,
A story with tears,
Joy and all the things that expand self-awareness.
So gather round and settle in,
The storyteller speaks.
Listen closely and you'll hear the wisdom that you seek.
She stepped up on the board,
Ready for the race.
She just knew that she would win,
Swim her way to first place.
When the starting horn went off,
She dove in with confidence.
She felt so good in her body,
Yet the pressure was intense.
Her strokes were picture perfect,
She had a nice big lead,
But then she glanced to the right and it slowed down her fast speed.
The doubting thoughts of comparison ran through her as she saw the other swimmers around her.
She quickly saw all her flaws,
But just as soon as doubt arrived,
New thoughts seeped right in.
She realized her only competition were all those thoughts within,
So she fixed her gaze straight ahead and called upon her best.
She breathed out all those doubting thoughts and focused on her own quest.
And when she touched the wall,
She knew that she had won,
Because when she's at her best,
Competition is so much fun.
I know that you've heard the noise all around,
Your attentions on everyone else.
You start to compare what's yours and what's theirs,
And soon you feel like you're less.
Bring yourself in,
Away from the noise,
Reminding yourself who you are.
There's no one like you.
In this whole universe,
You get to set your own bar.
So glance at the others,
Then come back to you.
It's you versus you in the end.
How can you be even better than before?
How can you stretch and transcend?
They all jumble up inside of your mind,
The thoughts you can choose to be true.
So sift through them all and grab those that help evolve you to the best version of you.
This journey you're on is yours and yours alone,
Design it with intention and joy.
Let everyone else just fade into gray.
This life is for you to enjoy.
Namaste,
Beautiful.
