Transitioning Out Of Meditation With Ease
The moments after meditation are just as important as the practice itself. Instead of rushing back into your day, this simple tip invites you to pause and transition with care. By moving slowly and allowing your body to adjust, you support the nervous system benefits you’ve just created. This gentle approach helps you carry a sense of calm and regulation with you, rather than leaving it behind. Let this be a reminder that how you end your practice matters.

This tip is called How You End a Meditation Matters.
When we finish a meditation,
It can feel exciting.
There's often a sense of accomplishment.
Perhaps it felt challenging,
Or you're just feeling great about doing something that feels good for you.
You might feel focused,
Energized,
And ready to jump back into your day.
This is simple and powerful.
When you end a meditation,
Pause.
One of the main benefits of meditation is nervous system regulation.
During practice,
The parasympathetic nervous system,
The part that is responsible for rest and restoration,
Has hopefully been activated.
When we jump back into activity too quickly,
We can undo some of the settling that we've just created.
So when your meditation ends,
Give yourself a moment.
Pause.
Open your eyes slowly and gently.
You might start by opening them just a little and gazing at the floor or space in front of you.
Allow your eyes to adjust to the light before opening them fully.
Then begin to move your body gently.
You might wiggle your fingers and toes or roll your shoulders or stretch,
Whatever feels natural.
When you're ready,
Stand up gently.
You're not rushing back into your day.
You're bringing the calm with you.
