Hello,
I'm Kate.
Welcome to this mindfulness practice on loneliness.
Let's start this one off by acknowledging the person who needs you the most.
That would be you.
So find your most comfortable position,
Sitting or reclining on a yoga mat,
In a chair,
On a sofa bed,
Even your car.
And as you inhale bring attention to your breath.
And as you exhale gently close your eyes.
Inhale through your nose for one,
Two,
Three,
Four.
Pause at the top.
Exhale through your nose four,
Three,
Two,
One.
And pause at the bottom.
Stay with that rhythm if it feels comfortable or do your version of deep smooth breathing.
So here we are breathing,
Relaxing,
Feeling safe and comfortable.
Taking a few minutes for ourselves.
Noticing the feelings that come and go.
There's nothing wrong with feeling relaxed.
Just as there's nothing wrong with feeling uncomfortable.
They're just sensations and sensations come and go.
Gently bring your awareness to the feelings of loneliness and notice how and where any sensations of discomfort arise.
And be with these feelings as if you were supporting a friend.
Be there for your discomfort as if you're caring for that friend.
Meet your loneliness as if it was someone who needs your support.
You soothe your friend's tears with compassion and you soothe your loneliness in the same way.
By being present.
By listening.
By being compassionate.
Acknowledge that you are the only one who can give consolation to these feelings.
Allow the feelings of loneliness or pain to drift away like a passing cloud that brings rain.
As the cloud moves on the Sun comes out bringing with it light and warmth.
When you comfort your uneasy emotions by sitting with them like a friend you allow an emotional storm to pour down.
To be released and then to be carried away by the wind.
Show up for yourself with the same dedication you have for your loved ones.
Give to yourself the same nurturing attention.
Make the time to have meaningful encounters with yourself because wisdom and comfort can be discovered from within.
Ease your feelings of loneliness by first connecting with yourself.
I thank you for trusting me with your time and I wish you a day filled with connections.
