Find a comfortable position.
Allow your body to settle.
And as you arrive here.
You don't need to make anything happen.
You don't need to empty your mind.
You don't need to become perfectly calm.
You don't even need to stop thinking.
For now.
You can simply be here.
Perhaps your mind has been busy today.
Moving from one thought to another.
Replaying a conversation.
Remembering something you meant to do.
Trying to work out what comes next.
Perhaps even when your body is tired.
Your thoughts keep moving.
As though there is something important you might miss.
If you finally let yourself rest.
If that is where you find yourself,
I want you to know something.
There is nothing wrong with you for having a busy mind.
Your mind may simply be trying to help.
Trying to prepare you.
Trying to protect you.
Trying to make sure you don't forget something important.
And you can appreciate that intention.
Without asking yourself to follow every thought it offers.
Take a slow,
Comfortable breath.
And let it leave in its own time.
Again,
Breathing in gently.
And breathing out.
There is nowhere you need to get in this moment.
Nothing you need to solve in the next few minutes.
You are allowed to take a small step back from the constant movement of your thoughts.
Not by pushing them away.
But by letting them pass without following them.
Imagine for a moment that your thoughts are leaves moving along a quiet stream.
Some drift slowly.
Some tumble over one another.
Some seem to catch your attention.
And you feel the urge to reach into the water and retrieve them.
To examine them,
To work out where they came from and where they might be going.
But you don't have to reach for every leaf.
You can remain on the bank.
Watching the water move.
A thought arrives.
You notice it.
When you're ready,
You let it continue on its way.
Another thought comes.
And you allow that one to pass too.
There is no need to argue with your mind.
No need to tell it to be quiet.
Just a gentle recognition.
There is a thought.
And then,
A little space.
If your attention wanders,
That's alright.
If you find yourself planning tomorrow.
Remembering yesterday,
Or wondering whether you're doing this meditation properly.
That's alright,
Too.
The moment you notice that you've wandered is not a failure.
It is a moment of awareness.
A moment when you can choose to return to the feeling of your body resting.
To the gentle rhythm of your breathing.
To the simple truth that right now,
You are here.
And perhaps there is something your mind has been asking you to figure out.
Something uncertain.
Something unfinished.
Something that doesn't yet have an answer.
You may have been carrying it from one moment to the next.
Hoping that if you think about it long enough,
You will finally find the perfect solution.
But some things cannot be solved by thinking harder.
Some answers need time.
Some decisions become clear when we are no longer exhausted from trying to make them.
And some things are simply not yours to resolve tonight.
Imagine gathering all those unfinished thoughts.
Not throwing them away.
Not pretending they don't matter.
Simply placing them somewhere safe.
Small table beside a window.
A quiet shelf.
Basket beside the door.
Somewhere you can return to when you have the time.
The energy.
And the clarity to meet them.
You can leave them there for now.
You are not abandoning your responsibilities.
You are allowing yourself to have a life beyond them.
And as you rest here.
Perhaps you can soften one small part of your body.
Unclench your jaw.
Let your shoulders drop.
Allow your hands to rest without holding anything.
Notice how much effort you may have been carrying,
Even in moments when you weren't physically moving.
You don't have to release everything at once.
Just a little less holding.
A little less trying.
A little more room to breathe.
Your mind is allowed to be busy while you learn to be at peace.
Your life is allowed to be unfinished while you find a moment of rest.
You are allowed to not know.
To not decide.
To not have everything figured out.
And you are still safe to take this moment for yourself.
If a thought comes now.
Let it come.
If another follows,
Let it follow.
You do not have to chase them.
You can let your attention return to the quiet space between them.
That small space where nothing is being demanded of you.
Where you are not answering.
Vaccine.
Planning or proving.
Where you are simply a person.
Breathing.
Living.
Here.
And perhaps you might gently offer yourself these words.
I do not need to follow every thought.
I can leave some questions unanswered.
I can return to what matters when I am ready.
For now,
I am allowed to rest.
Let those words settle in whatever way they can.
There is no need to force yourself to believe them completely.
Just let them be an invitation.
And the opening.
A reminder that you have choices,
Even when your mind feels crowded.
And when you are ready to continue with your day.
Or to settle into your evening.
You can take this gentleness with you.
You don't need to carry every thought forward.
You can meet the next moment when it arrives.
One breath.
One choice.
One small moment at a time.
And for now,
You have done enough.
You can rest here.
May you find a little more space within your thoughts.
May you remember that you are more than the things you need to figure out.
And may you give yourself permission to be here.
Without needing to have it all worked out.
Be well.
