Mindfulness of breath.
Guided Practice.
Find a comfortable position.
Sitting is traditional for this practice,
But you can also lie down if that's what your body needs today.
If you're sitting,
Let your spine be tall but not rigid.
Imagine you're being gently lifted.
From the crown of your head.
Rest your hands wherever they are comfortable.
On your knees,
In your lap,
Or by your sides.
Close your eyes or lower your gaze to a soft,
Unfocused point in front of you.
Take a deep breath in and let it out with a sigh.
Let your body settle into this moment.
Now,
Bring your attention to your breath.
You're not trying to change it or control it,
You're just noticing it.
Where do you feel your breath most clearly?
Maybe it's at your nostrils.
The cool air coming in,
The warm air going out.
Maybe it's in your chest.
The gentle rise and fall.
Or maybe it's in your belly.
The soft expansion and release.
Wherever you feel it most clearly,
Place your attention there.
That's your anchor point.
And now,
Just watch your breath.
Feel it.
Notice it.
Breathing in.
.
.
You know you're breathing in.
Breathing out.
You know you're breathing out.
That's all.
Just this simple awareness that you are breathing.
Notice the rhythm of your breath.
It has its own pace.
You don't need to control it.
Just watch,
Just feel.
And when you notice that your mind has wandered,
And it will.
Just gently acknowledge where it went.
You might label it silently.
Thinking.
Planning.
Remembering,
Worrying.
And then,
Without judgment,
Without frustration.
Bring your attention back.
To your breath.
Back to the anchor,
Back to now.
Breathing in.
.
.
Breathing out.
.
.
If you've drifted,
Just return,
Gently,
Kindly.
Notice the breath.
This breath.
.
.
Right now.
Your mind will wander.
That's what minds do.
Just notice and return.
Back to the breath.
Always back to the breath.
There's nowhere else you need to be.
Nothing else you need to do.
Just this breathing,
And knowing you're breathing.
When you notice you've drifted,
Smile gently and come back.
Breathing in.
.
.
Breathing out.
Each return is a moment of awakening.
Each return is the practice.
Just a few more breaths now.
Stay with your anchor.
Breathing in.
.
.
Breathing out.
.
.
Now,
Gently begin to deepen your breath.
Take a fuller breath in.
And let it out with a sigh.
Start to bring small movements back into your body.
Wiggle your fingers,
Your toes,
Roll your shoulders.
Stretch if you'd like.
And when you're ready,
Gently open your eyes.
Welcome back.
Take a moment to notice how you feel.
Maybe there is a quality of stillness,
A sense of being more present,
More here.
Or maybe your mind still feels busy.
And that's okay too.
Here's what I want you to understand about this practice.
Thinking is not the problem.
Your mind is designed to think.
That's what it does.
The practice is not about stopping your thoughts.
The practice is about noticing when you've been swept away by them and choosing to return.
Every time you notice you've drifted.
And you bring your attention back to your breath.
You're doing the practice perfectly.
That moment of return.
That's where the power is.
It doesn't matter if you returned five times or fifty times.
What matters is that you did return.
You noticed.
You chose.
You came back.
This is a practice you can do anytime,
Anywhere.
You don't need this audio track.
You don't need anything except your breath and your attention.
You can use mindfulness of breath.
When you're feeling scattered or overwhelmed,
When you need to ground yourself in the present moment.
As a daily practice,
Even just five minutes in the morning.
Or any time you want to train your attention and build the skill of presence.
The more you practice,
The stronger your attention becomes.
You'll find it easier to stay present in your life.
To notice when you're lost in worry or rumination.
To choose again and again,
To come back to now.
You've now learned six practices,
Five breathwork techniques,
And this meditation practice.
You're building a complete toolkit for nervous system regulation and mental training.
In the next practice,
We'll explore Acceptance Meditation a practice that teaches you how to soften around difficulty.
To make space for whatever you're feeling,
And to reduce suffering through allowing.
When you're ready,
I'll meet you there.
For now.
Practice returning.
Practice choosing presence.
The breath is always here,
Waiting for you.
I'll see you in the next practice.
