Finding a comfortable posture,
Posture that brings ease to the body and mind,
And also brings dignity to this moment,
This moment of practice.
And then locating the breath,
Or if you prefer,
Locating the sounds in your environment,
And just inviting the attention to rest.
Rest on the breath as it flows in and out of the body,
Or rest on the sound as it arises and passes away.
And this may be a really delicious moment for you.
It may be.
And it also may be a moment of noticing restlessness,
Or distraction,
Or an impulse to just hop off the call,
Because you're busy,
There's stuff.
And so just,
If that's the case,
The latter,
Just noticing that small,
And you could even call it inconsequential,
But yet it's present,
That moment of suffering of wanting things,
Wanting the moment for yourself to be different,
Wanting to get on with whatever,
Or move on from whatever.
Right?
Or maybe as you attend to the breath or to sound rising and passing away that there's some ache in the body,
And you wish that it wasn't there.
Just that small sense of wanting things to be different.
Or maybe it's something more consequential,
And concern arises.
Maybe there's a thought,
And you prefer that thinking not be happening right now.
Or maybe the content of the thought is troubling,
Or there's an emotion that's troubling.
Or there could be something difficult on the horizon for you,
Or for someone you love.
And we're really just pointing at being able to be with whatever is present,
Whatever is happening,
And to acknowledge what that is.
That this is a moment of suffering,
If it is.
And if it's not,
This is a moment of joy,
This is a neutral moment.
Just giving ourselves the space,
The respect that we deserve to be able to see,
Oh yeah,
There are these moments of suffering in my life.
They exist.
I'm not always good,
And fine,
And busy.
And that's okay.
Because it means I'm human.
We're all human.
That's why it's okay.
And now we know what to let go of.
