Hi and welcome to this meditation on entering your magic zone.
What is your dream in life?
What would you do if you knew that you could not fail?
There are two types of limitations to our actions.
Some are external,
Such as physical or legal limitations,
And others are internal limitations,
The ones that we place on ourselves.
Often what prevents us from accomplishing our dreams,
Whether it be to start a new career,
To explore our creative potential,
Or to live a life aligned with our values,
Is the greatest of all internal limitations,
Our fear.
We're all afraid of something,
Fear of lacking,
Of being ridiculed,
Of failure,
Of being alone,
Or of being hurt.
But the world isn't divided between those who feel fear and those who don't,
But rather between those who view it as an insurmountable barrier,
And those who see it as an invitation to explore the unknown and to create more meaning in their lives.
If we stop to consider any one of the moments in our lives that felt truly magical,
Chances are that they came at the cost of facing something we feared.
Thus,
Another way to look at this reality is to understand that whenever we experience fear,
It is likely an indicator that right behind this fear lies the possibility of real magic occurring in our lives.
The secret of today's meditation is to realize that just behind our fears,
Which we can also call our panic zone,
Lies the place where all of our wildest dreams become real,
The magic zone.
And that the only way to access our magic zone is to first step into our panic zone.
Or as Terence McKenna once said,
Nature loves courage.
You make the commitment and nature will respond to that commitment by removing impossible obstacles.
Dream the impossible dream and the world will not grind you under,
It will lift you up.
This is how magic is done,
By hurling yourself into the abyss and discovering it's a feather bed.
This is what we'll be practicing in today's meditation.
Start by sitting symmetrically and upright,
But without it being uncomfortable.
Close your eyes to start the journey within.
Close your mouth so that you're only breathing through your nose.
Our nostrils filter the air we breathe better than our mouths do and thus allow for slower,
More serene breathing.
Become entirely still,
You're completely motionless except for the air coming in and out of your nostrils.
Observe your breathing as if you were looking at something separate from you.
It occurs naturally and automatically without you having to do anything.
Notice how the air coming in is colder than the air coming out of your nostrils.
If at any point during this meditation you're bothered by incoming thoughts,
It's perfectly normal and it's part of the practice.
Notice these thoughts,
Simply refocus your attention on the cold air coming in and the warm air coming out.
Without forcing anything,
Allow your breathing to slow down so that it becomes a very thin stream of air which brings calm and comfort to your body as it flows in on the inhale.
As if this stream of air were a magical substance,
Bringing you joy with every inhale.
Progressively,
This stream of air is becoming thinner and thinner.
Your breathing slower and slower.
Bring to mind the image of an archery target.
This target has a central area,
That's your comfort zone.
Around it is a second area,
Your learning zone.
Then around that one is a third area,
Which is your panic zone.
And finally,
The last zone surrounding the third one is your magic zone.
Imagine that you're in the middle of this target and that you're making your way outwards.
The comfort zone in the middle represents everything in your life that you're familiar with and that can be more or less pleasant.
A job you've had for a long time,
A series you often watch,
Or a daily habit you might have.
Visualize the emotion that you feel when you're in your comfort zone.
Notice the feeling of safety here and how reassuring it is.
With every inhale,
Bring to your body the sensations of comfort,
A warm blanket around you on a cold winter night.
Imagine that you're making your way into the second zone surrounding the first one.
This is your learning zone.
It represents the moments of your life when you get out of your comfort zone to try something new.
Visiting a new country,
Trying a new type of food,
Or learning about a new subject.
Visualize the emotion you feel when you're in your learning zone.
The feeling of curiosity that comes with it.
With every inhale,
Bring to your body the sensation of increased concentration and activity you find in your learning zone.
We spend almost all of our lives in our comfort and learning zones and only rarely do we venture out into the third zone.
That's because the third zone is our panic zone.
Think back to a magical moment in your life.
The birth of a child,
A success in your studies or in your career.
Notice the emotion you felt in your body when you were experiencing something magical.
With every inhale,
Breathe in the joy you felt when you were in the magic zone.
Now see if you can remember the feeling you had right before this magical moment.
When you were still in the panic zone,
Fearful of the uncertainty ahead of you,
Worried that something may not go as planned.
Notice the fear you had in you at that time.
Bring it back to your body and notice what it feels like to be in your panic zone.
Finally,
Picture a dream you might have.
Something you would love to see happening.
That fills you with a sense of purpose and well-being.
Now think of a fear you have that's keeping you from making this dream a reality.
Visualize the panic zone standing between you and your dream.
Think of all the rejections or failures you may have to face.
Bring to your body the feeling of failure.
Notice how it hurts.
Embrace the sensation.
Breathe it in with every inhale.
Notice how it's less painful than you imagined it would be.
Finally,
Bring to your body the emotion you'll have when this dream of yours becomes your reality.
Feel the joy,
The happiness,
The laughter that will come with this success.
All of your body now,
As you focus on your breathing,
Take in the amazing feelings that are waiting for you in your magic zone.
Now focus on three affirmations to strengthen our ability to face our fears and enter the magic zone.
Pay attention to the words contained in those affirmations while remaining focused on the sensations of your breathing.
First affirmation,
I see fear as a guide towards my magic zone.
Affirmation I practice observing my fears without giving them too much energy.
Third affirmation,
I make my life magical by overcoming my fears.
Before finishing this meditation,
Once again observe your current mood as if you were inspecting your emotions from the outside looking in.
When you're ready,
You can slowly come out of this meditation and start noticing the weight of your clothes on your body,
The surrounding sounds,
And of course all the colors around you.
I hope you enjoyed this meditation.
Don't hesitate to come back to it if you would like to work some more on visualizing your fears and what lies beyond them.
The more you can learn to step beyond your comfort zone,
The more you will open your life to new and exciting possibilities that you may not even suspect.
Have a wonderful day,
And I'll see you next time for new meditations.
Have a beautiful day.
