I'm really glad you found this meditation.
If you're here,
I'm guessing this moment feels a little difficult.
Maybe you don't even have words for it.
You just don't want to be alone right now.
For the next few minutes,
You won't be.
Just let my voice sit with you for a little while.
Take a slow,
Comfortable breath in.
And gently breathe out.
There's nothing we need to accomplish.
No pressure to feel calmer.
No expectation that everything will suddenly feel okay.
Simply sharing this moment together.
Notice the support beneath your body.
The chair.
The bag.
The sofa.
The floor beneath your feet.
Let yourself settle just a little more.
Whatever today has looked like.
However you're arriving here.
It's OK.
You don't have to explain it.
Sometimes loneliness comes after a difficult conversation.
Sometimes after a long day.
Sometimes for no obvious reason at all.
And sometimes it simply arrives without asking permission.
If that's where you are today,
I'm really glad you reached for something that could keep you company.
Take another slow breath.
If we were sitting together in the same room.
We probably wouldn't need to fill every second with conversation.
We could simply sit quietly.
Maybe with a cup of tea.
Maybe looking out of the window.
May be saying very little.
Because sometimes another person's presence is enough.
I hope this can feel a little like that.
Just knowing someone is here.
Breathing with you.
Keeping you company for a while.
Take another easy breath.
Notice the gentle rhythm of your breathing.
In.
And out.
You don't have to make it deeper.
Or slower.
Just notice that it's there.
Study.
Faithful.
Always staying with you.
I wonder if you've been carrying more than anyone realizes.
Thoughts you haven't shared?
Feelings you've tried to push aside.
A longing for a connection that feels difficult to explain.
If so,
I hope you know this.
There's nothing embarrassing about wanting company.
There's nothing weak about wishing someone were beside you.
Connection is one of our most natural human needs.
And tonight for these few minutes.
You don't have to carry that longing by yourself.
Take another slow breath.
If it feels comforting,
Imagine that someone is sitting quietly beside you.
No expectations.
No pressure at all.
Just gentle company.
Someone who isn't trying to fix you.
Someone who isn't asking you to be different.
Someone who simply wants you to know that your presence matters.
Because it does.
You matter.
Even on the days that feel lonely.
Even on the evenings that feel endless.
Even in the moments when it seems like the whole world has become quiet.
Take one final slow breath in.
And let it go gently.
Thank you for letting me spend this time with you.
I hope these few minutes have made this moment feel just a little lighter.
And a little less lonely.
If this practice resonated with you today,
You might also find support in my 10-day course,
Understanding Loneliness.
Together we'll explore why loneliness affects us so deeply.
How it shapes the way we think,
Feel and connect.
And gentle ways to begin reconnecting with yourself,
With others and with life.
Until next time!
Take care of yourself.
You're not alone.
