For this solo Native American flute improvisation, the weather looked like rain, so I used my waterproof purple cast epoxy flute in Bb minor, gifted by Peter Churcher, Willow Creek Woodcraft. This flute loves the rain and wet weather in general, and the key of Bb seems to be popular with birds everywhere. You’ll hear the sound of bees buzzing close to the microphone, which was sitting on a log in the middle of a carpet of purple-flowering ground cover. The rainforest birds chattered constantly, and you'll also hear the wind, the creaking of trees, and the sound of incoming rain. Recorded at Hale ‘I’iwi, near the Honua’ula Forest Reserve, Hawaii. This track is best listened to at a low to moderate volume, to match the tranquility of the Hawaiian rainforest.
