Crooked Basket On The Porch Song For Native American Flute
As I walked up the steps to my off-grid, solar-powered cabin at Kulaniapia Farm (Big Island of Hawaii), I was immediately struck by a tall, lopsided handwoven basket sitting on the porch that looked as if it were about to fall over at any moment! It seemed fitting that I use my very first Chris Ti Coom cherrywood Native American flute for this improvisation - it has a unique voice and always chooses its songs. In the background, you can hear the river, the waterfalls, and of course, many coqui frogs, which were bold enough to hop up onto the porch steps in the evenings. This song has a bouncy, uneven rhythm and is good for getting out of a rut, getting "unstuck", or opening up to the unusual or unexpected. Best listened to at a low to moderate volume, similar to a quiet evening in a tranquil Hawaiian orchard.
