Find a quiet spot,
Either sit or lie down in whatever way is most comfortable and relaxing to you.
Start to focus inward by listening to the sound of your breath and noticing any sensations in your body.
No need to linger here long,
Just notice them.
Now take a slow and deep breath in and let the air flow out gently,
Fluidly.
Take another deep breath in,
Allowing the oxygen to fill your lungs and chest and as you exhale,
Allow your breath to flow all the way through your body and to the ends of your feet and toes.
As you settle in and become more at ease and comfortable,
Let your body start to relax more.
If you are holding on to any tension from your day,
Gently and lovingly brush that aside and let it just melt away during these few moments.
Take another deep breath in and exhale completely out.
Allow your head to become heavy and just sink into the surface beneath it.
Feel your face muscles soften,
Your shoulders and back are supported by the earth,
Your stomach is soft and light,
Your arms and hands are heavy,
Your legs are heavy and supported,
Your feet and toes are relaxed,
All of your muscles are calm and your mind is quiet and at peace.
If a thought enters,
That is fine,
Just tenderly return to your breath slowly in and slowly out.
Now spend a moment to think of one thing or many things that you are thankful for today.
It can be tangible or it could be something like your job or your best friend.
The list can be endless.
Take a moment now and appreciate the wonderment of your body,
How your eyes enable you to see all of the beauty in this world,
The changing colors of the leaves,
The ocean waves,
The sunset or how your ears allow you to hear music and the sound of your toddler laughing or how your feet carry you so many miles throughout your lifetime.
Life is truly a marvel when we choose to see it that way.
Just notice how calm and relaxed your mind and body are.
Feel the contentment that has welled up inside of you,
How full your heart feels.
Carry these feelings with you throughout your day.
When the time feels right for you,
Bring your awareness back to your breath and to the space around you.
Namaste.
