Today,
We're going to practice with a basic Samana breathwork.
Samana means balancing.
Our breath practice today is going to focus on balancing our inhales and retentions and our exhales and suspensions.
Please come to a comfortable position seated preferably.
You can be crisscross applesauce,
You can be sitting on a pillow,
You can be in lotus,
You can be in a chair.
The purpose of being seated is that we would like to focus on the breath and let it have the most efficient energy flow it can.
Once you're seated,
You can put your hands in a comfortable position.
They can be beside you.
They can be on your legs,
Wherever is comfortable.
Next we'll take a deep breath in through our nose and a deep breath out,
Also through your nose if possible.
Continue to breathe in and out naturally,
Focusing on extending both the inhale and the exhale.
Take one more breath of your own count in and keeping the same count out.
We'll now begin with our guided counts.
When you're ready,
Breathe in through your nose for four counts and hold and exhale through your nose and hold.
Inhale and hold,
Exhale and hold.
Inhale and hold,
Exhale and hold.
Inhale and hold,
Exhale and hold.
Now inhale for five and hold for three.
Exhale for five,
Hold for three.
Inhale for five,
Hold for three.
Exhale for five,
Hold for three.
Inhale for five,
Hold for three.
Exhale for five,
Hold for three.
Inhale for six,
Hold for three.
Exhale for six,
Hold for three.
Inhale for five,
Hold for three.
Exhale for five,
Hold for three.
Inhale for five,
Hold for three.
Exhale for five,
Hold for three.
Inhale for five,
Hold for three.
Exhale for five,
Hold for three.
Inhale for five,
And hold for four.
Exhale and hold for four.
Inhale and hold,
Exhale and hold.
Inhale and hold,
Exhale and hold.
Inhale and hold,
Exhale and hold.
Inhale,
Hold,
Exhale and hold.
Inhale and hold,
Exhale and hold.
Inhale,
Hold,
Exhale and hold.
Last one,
Inhale and hold,
Exhale and hold.
Take a big inhale and a big exhale.
Allow your breath to go back into a natural rhythm.
Notice how you may feel now from when you began the practice.
Notice how you feel mentally,
How you may feel physically.
Continue to bring your breath back to its natural rhythm.
If your eyes were closed,
You can begin to slightly open them,
Wiggle your fingers,
Bring some movement back into your body.
And as you're ready,
You can go back to your day.
