Welcome to this short meditation for befriending the body.
Coming into a comfortable space.
Perhaps you're walking,
Perhaps you're sitting.
Whatever your beautiful body is doing,
Let's take a big inhale and exhale coming into this moment,
Coming into presence of what is.
And let's take a moment together to recognize how beautiful and incredible your gorgeous wee bod is.
I'll be bringing in a little Reiki healing along the sides,
But largely we'll be focusing on the bod and just remembering all that it does for us.
If you like,
Bringing your hands to a spot on the body that you think could do with a little extra loving and just settling into presence there for a moment.
And just tuning in to how you feel about the body as a whole,
Or how you feel about this area you are currently holding with care.
And whatever comes up,
Just letting it be.
It's all good.
It's all part of being human.
And then inhaling into the sunshine and light of your body and just recognizing how it is your best friend.
How hard it works for you every single day,
Often without thanks or acknowledgement.
How it never needs it or asks for it,
But how it works in perfect unison,
In cohesion,
As your heart pumps blood,
The ventricles working as they do,
As the blood cells take around the oxygen,
As your liver detoxes,
Your intestines move food,
Your muscles work to allow you to move,
Your brain looks for ways to keep you safe,
Imaginative,
Loving,
As your throat and larynx help you speak and communicate,
Your eyeballs allow you to see the world,
Your fingers allow you to grip,
Touch and hold,
The hairs on your arms and your body allowing you to trap heat,
Your body does so much for you,
It loves you so deeply.
It is your bestest friend.
Even when you mistreat it,
It still wakes up with you,
Bathes with you,
Eats with you,
Dresses with you,
Parties with you,
Loves with you,
Commiserates with you.
It moves when you move,
It allows you to reach,
It allows you to ground,
It rolls and it shifts and it transforms to accommodate the wholeness of you.
And should any part of it not work perfectly,
Then my babe,
Think of all it's doing,
And think of all the love that it does each function,
Each process with.
If it has got anything a little awry,
A little wrong,
Which is very common,
It's not its intention,
Because its intention is always to love you,
Is biologically to survive.
Your body is your breath,
Your body is your being,
Your vehicle for existence,
But vehicle is so not the right word,
Your body is your best friend.
As you twirl,
Cook,
Kiss,
Eat,
Hug,
Love,
Dance,
All of it,
Remember your body is holding you,
Embracing you,
Loving you,
Endlessly,
Ceaselessly,
Constantly.
And so turning a little of this love back to it,
Recognizing it,
And in doing so,
Allowing yourself to step lighter into each new day,
Lighter along each path in the world,
Because you are always holding hands irrevocably intertwined with your body,
Your best friend.
I hope this brings you a little joy,
A little remembrance,
And giving yourself a big old hug,
Giving your body some loving from head to toe into each cell.
Inhale deeply,
And exhale,
And in your own time,
Gently opening the eyes,
Perhaps having a little shake through the shoulders,
Arms,
Hips,
Feet,
And giving thanks,
Enjoying the freedom to once more move about through your day.
Thank you.
