Relationships are the reason we are here on Earth. Do you agree? All of our learning comes from the interplay of personality, beliefs, actions, and reactions... Can we allow ourselves to dance with the differences and embrace the similarities? This is the first in a series of spoken word poetry from my forthcoming poetry book. Loving people as they are Don't look for perfect,

Look for the whole.

When something is whole,

Then in its very nature it's complete.

Loving another as they are is a practice to grow from,

Based in acceptance,

But often reeking of dismissal.

To love another because of who they are is a grace to grow into,

A signal of fate,

The evidence of how we find continuity and then negate,

While we specialize and recreate ourselves through others.

To look at all the parts without any walls up,

Without the dim filters of would,

Could,

Should,

It's taking it all in,

Especially those that show cold,

Or abrasive,

Or too hot to hold.

And then letting these push your own stir you,

Turn you around to things you purposefully misplaced,

Letting the dissonance loosen the fingertips,

Blocking destiny,

So you can hear yourself.

Allowing the melange of another personality with habits,

Idiosyncrasies,

Actions and reactions,

And the ultimate surrender of expectation.

It's letting the ego play on a longer leash while letting this gestalt embrace pour over your perception of yourself,

To see how the colors mix.

To witness how the soul dances with,

In one direction or another,

And then leaning back,

Way back,

And how does it feel?

Where does it feed,

The fragments or the flow?

As a witness,

You can finally know the proximity to stand with an open heart.
