In this practice,
We will be consciously cultivating some nourishing feeling states.
This can be a really nice practice when you're sad,
Stressed,
Or anxious,
Or when you're simply wanting to shift your emotional state.
Begin by settling into a comfortable position,
Noticing what feels best for your body in this moment,
Taking the time to make any shifts or adjustments that will allow you to be as comfortable as possible,
Closing your eyes or softening your gaze,
Giving yourself permission to set everything else aside,
Tuning in to notice all of the places that your body is held and supported by the surfaces beneath you,
And affirming that in this moment,
You are held,
You are supported,
Beginning to turn your attention to the breath,
Inviting your breath to become slower and deeper,
Slow,
Intentional breath in,
Slow,
Intentional breath out,
Inviting the mind and the body to soften.
As you feel the breath nourishing and nurturing your entire being,
Tune in to the feeling of peace,
The felt experience of this quality.
You may bring to mind a time when you felt especially calm,
At ease,
Or at peace,
Or you can imagine a place where you feel peaceful,
Bringing to mind the sights and sounds of this place,
Breathing this peace in on your inhale,
Letting it fill and surround you as you exhale,
Tuning in to the essence of peace inside of you.
You may feel your muscles soften,
Your body becoming heavier and more relaxed,
Luxuriating in this feeling of peace,
Knowing this is your true nature.
You are meant to live in peace.
Shifting now,
Tuning in to the feeling of joy.
You may recall a time when you felt especially joyful,
Happy,
Or lighthearted,
Or you can bring to mind someone who emanates joy,
Picturing the light in their eyes,
Hearing the laughter in their voice,
Feeling the joyful energy of their spirit,
Breathing this joy in on your inhale,
Letting it fill and surround you as you exhale,
Savoring this feeling of joy,
Moving through your entire being,
Knowing this is your true nature.
You are meant to live joyfully.
Shifting now,
Tuning in to the feeling of vitality.
You may remember a time when you felt vibrant,
Resilient,
Or empowered.
You may recall a time when you felt especially strong and alive in your body,
Breathing this vitality in on the inhale,
Letting it fill and surround you as you exhale,
Savoring this feeling,
Knowing this is your true nature.
This quality lives inside of you.
You are meant to live with vitality.
Shifting once more,
Tuning in to love,
Perhaps recalling a time when you felt love deeply.
This may be with another person,
A pet,
Or a memorable circumstance.
Seeing this person or situation in front of your closed eyes,
Perhaps seeing their smile,
Feeling the warmth of their hug,
Recalling the energy and connection that you felt so deeply,
Breathing this feeling of love in on your inhale,
Letting it fill and surround you as you exhale,
Savoring this feeling,
Allowing this breath of love to soften every part of your mind,
Body,
And spirit.
Noticing how this feels in your body.
You may feel a warmth near your heart or even a soft smile on your lips.
Knowing this is your true nature,
You are meant to love and be loved.
Now slowly beginning to turn your attention to notice how you're feeling in this moment.
As you begin to invite small,
Gentle movement back into your body,
And setting the intention to take all that you have cultivated with you as you move back into the rest of your day.
Remembering that you can cultivate whatever you need with your breath and your intention.
