Welcome to the Center the Absurd Meditation Podcast,

Where we engage deeply and mindfully with the silliest and most absurd spaces within ourselves in order to find levity and relief from the pains and stresses of our human existence.

Today's meditation practice focuses on finding peace,

Calm,

And comfort within ourselves.

Start by finding a comfortable position in a space where you can focus on yourself for a bit.

Relax into your body,

Feel yourself settling into the chair or floor beneath you.

Breathe gently,

In and out.

Starting at your toes and moving up your feet and your legs,

Find any points of tension or stress.

As you breathe,

Try to let the tension go.

Breathing up through your waist and back,

Breathe deeply and let your muscles relax.

Breathe in and out.

Now,

Focus your attention on your abdomen,

Become aware of any muscle tension you are carrying in your chest or belly.

These are common places for us to carry tension and stress.

Feel the tightness,

The pressure,

The heat of what you may be holding there.

Breathe in and out.

Continue to breathe and try to release any muscle tightness in your neck and up through your head and face.

Keep breathing gently,

Noticing the air moving in and out.

Now imagine that you are seeing yourself through a very powerful camera lens.

See yourself sitting or lying down exactly as you are.

See yourself trying to relax your body,

Breathing in and out.

See your full self,

Notice the familiarity of seeing you.

Welcome yourself just as you are,

Like an old friend paying a visit.

Your body is strong,

Your outfit is on point and you are just as you should be.

Now zoom the camera lens in,

In through your clothes,

Into your chest cavity,

Deep inside of yourself.

You have never been able to see so clearly and deeply into yourself until this moment.

Once you get past the skeeved out feeling of looking through your insides,

You realize there is a vast world inside of you.

You can see many hills and valleys,

There is a vast open sky that continues on for as far as you can see.

As you look out deeper and deeper into yourself,

You notice smoke rising up from the horizon and loud sounds in the distance.

Feeling safe and protected,

You decide to investigate.

You walk toward the sounds,

You are not afraid,

You are very curious,

You are calm and confident.

Coming up over a hill,

You look down into a valley and can see there is something terrible going on.

You see small fires,

Leveled structures,

The ground itself is torn up and ragged.

It's a real mess down there.

There appear to be dozens of small creatures,

Each about three feet tall,

Bald and faceless,

Some wearing red pantsuits and some wearing green pantsuits and man they are really going at it,

Fighting and kicking and scratching at each other.

The red pantsuit beans are really giving it to the green pantsuit beans.

They don't seem intent on killing each other but some of the creatures look pretty messed up and in the chaos some have fallen down and are struggling to get back up.

There is banging and crashing and screeching so loud you have to cover your ears.

You remember the tightness in your chest and nod to yourself,

Yeah this kind of chaotic battle would certainly explain that.

You wonder how long this has been going on inside of you.

Suddenly a large black bird flies overhead and swoops low toward you.

It drops something from its beak that falls gently down.

You are able to easily catch it in your hand.

It is a shiny silver whistle.

You love whistles and this one is pretty sweet.

The small creatures are still chasing and punching each other.

This has got to stop.

You close your eyes and take a deep breath.

Instinctually you put the whistle to your lips and blow.

The sound is crisp and reaching but it is surprisingly pleasant and sweet.

Immediately the small creatures stop in their tracks and turn in your direction.

You can see the dust settling,

The smoke clearing.

It is suddenly still and quiet.

You place the whistle in your pocket and take several more deep cleansing breaths.

In and out.

Hey,

You say quietly,

But the red and green pants suited beings all seem to hear and understand you clearly.

Hey down there,

Knock it off.

You take another deep,

Cooling breath in.

Knock it off,

You say.

And then a cleansing breath out.

Be still.

Again,

In.

Knock it off.

And out.

Be still.

With each exhalation you notice several of the small creatures take a seat cross-legged on the ground where they are standing.

You breathe in deeply.

You exhale fully and a few more sit down.

In and out.

Now a few more sit.

You continue breathing like this.

Knock it off.

Be still.

And now all of the creatures are sitting calmly,

As still as can be,

Interested and turned in your direction.

Like you,

You tell them.

Now stay.

You stand for a moment,

Feeling the peace and calm laid out before you.

The peace and calm resting within you.

Now the powerful camera zooms back out,

Away from the hills and valleys inside of yourself.

Back outside of your chest and guts.

Back out of your shirt and you can see yourself again in the position in which you started in this familiar,

Safe and quiet room.

The tension and heat in your chest and belly are gone.

Now it feels cool,

Open and calm inside your abdomen.

Everything is as it should be.

There is peace and calm inside of you.

You feel for your pocket and touch the silver whistle resting there.

You remind yourself you have the power to calm whatever gets stirred up inside of you.

You can use your whistle,

Your words,

Your commanding presence and your calming breath whenever tension or conflict arises inside.

For now,

You can enjoy the serenity of this moment.

You did a really nice job in there.

Rest a moment in this newfound sense of peace.

When you are ready,

You can continue on and carry it into your day.

Be well.

Unconventionally silly & made me smile. And tapped straight into & addressed serious body sensations with a sense of levity. Exactly what I needed! Thank you!
