On this evening,
As the earth slowly turns from the sun,
As the shadows rise and the bird call and the trees soften,
Let us too slow our minds and accept the here and now without the busy replay of the day.
We have done what we could,
We have done all that we could and we are here now on this off shore by the water as the evening rests upon the calm as the filtered sunlight dabbles the surface and we can breathe.
The day has passed,
It is behind us and we can now from this quiet place see what we have done as we might see the passing of monuments or green fields from the window of a car.
We passed our hours,
Our hours of production in this way,
Completing these tasks,
Failing at some,
Putting off others,
Rushing through the emails and phone calls and meetings,
All on the way to the next thing and then the next.
Here in the evening calm,
Let us let them simply be without the harshness of judgment,
Without the critical eye,
Without the sharp voice that says should have.
Acceptance of what is,
Is giving up all hope for a better past,
Releasing that internal tension that drives us to wish to be different,
Better,
Smarter,
More effective,
Is a softening into wisdom,
The quiet and gentle knowing of the body that does not require a thinker.
Here on the shores of this evening,
Let us breathe softly and fully and observe the events of the day as objects on a plane,
Sufficient of themselves without our needing to fuss over them.
With a soft smile and a deep breath,
Let us release them to their own time as we turn to the now,
Here,
Where time is absorbed into space and we can return finally to the soft being of our bodies.
Be at peace and have a beautiful evening.
