We can start our day with a clear intention. Before we launch ourselves into whatever the day entails, we can remind ourselves what matters most to us and set forth from that place. If the words speak to you, may this short meditation be that reminder. Close your eyes, follow your breathing, and let yourself start anew. Background piano music by Clavier.

Starting a new day,

May I see with clear eyes,

A clear mind and an open heart,

All of the goodness that is before me.

Today,

May I take in a gift of this body,

This body that was made for me,

That allows me to experience all that I get to experience in sight,

Sound,

Touch,

Taste,

Smell and in movement,

This body which is perfect in all its imperfections.

Today,

May I remember to slow down enough so that I can see and feel the gifts that are here,

Of which there are so many,

To delight in the smallest of things,

To remember that if I don't slow down,

It is hard to feel full,

But in each moment I can be filled again.

Today,

May I know that the suffering I witness and feel is an inevitable part of living,

And I don't have to let it harden me.

Instead,

May it awaken compassion and tenderness for our common human experience of being in this endlessly shifting and unpredictable world.

May it help me to connect,

Rather than to separate.

Today,

May I remember simplicity and to intervene when I see that I am making something more than it actually is,

Making assumptions,

But rather may I choose to stay in the present and trust that I can meet what is here,

Moment by moment.

I have what I need inside.

Today,

May I remember to have humility as I see beyond just me and recognize that there are numerous causes and conditions for anything arising and falling away,

Most of which I cannot see or control,

Most of which was set in motion way before me.

May this help me to loosen my grip today,

To let go and trust in life's unfolding.

May I be guided by what I value most,

And that coming from true love and kindness never fails,

And when I forget,

As I will,

I can forgive myself and repair.

I can begin again.

I am not perfect.

Today,

May I recognize all judgment and blame as fear.

May I take care of my fear.

The whole universe is constantly changing,

And we are changing along with it,

Together.

Today,

May I rest in our unfolding.

May I be a source of steadiness,

Of safety,

Of joy,

And of love.
