Hello,
This is JB and welcome to your sleep story,
The Little Duckling.
So let's jump into bed,
Make sure you're nice and comfy.
Close your eyes and imagine yourself just as warm as ever.
Snuggle into the blankets and before we start,
Let's just relax a little bit and let go of all the fun you've had today and get ready to sleep.
So let's do some breathing together.
Breathe in and out.
Breathe in and out.
Breathe in and out.
Breathe in and out.
Breathe in and out.
Last time,
Breathe in and out.
Wow,
That's great.
You're really good at this thing.
Now just imagine you're at the park with your mum.
You're skipping through the grass.
The sun is warm on your face and the flowers smell so sweet.
The smell,
It tickles your nose and makes you laugh.
As you keep skipping,
You see a little lake.
There are trees all around.
The sun is shining and the lake looks so pretty.
So you skip over there.
You stop by the lake and you see some ducks.
They're all swimming together.
The big ones that look like mummy and daddy ducks and the small ones that look like baby ducks.
Then they all twitch their tail feathers at the same time and off they go in the same direction.
Wack,
Wack,
Wack,
Wack.
They say as they all swim away.
You sit down by the lake and watch everything that's going on.
You play with some little flowers.
Watch the squirrels playing in the tree running about.
They're playing with their friends.
You see the bees hopping from flower to flower,
Touching each one and never staying still.
You're just happy to be there in the park.
Mummy even gave you a little bread to feed the ducks.
So you have to wait until some come over.
Then you can give them their lunch.
Your mummy said it's okay to give the ducks a little food and you can't wait.
You sit there playing in the grass for a while.
Then over the other side of the lake you see a little duckling all by himself.
You wave at him and he suddenly slowly swims over.
He is close to the edge and you can see him clearly but he looks so cold.
He shivers and looks up at you with those little eyes.
His eyes look very sad.
He wants his mummy and daddy.
You go closer to him and you give him a little bread you have in your hand.
He looks up at you again and then he takes the bread and he finishes it so quickly.
I'm sure he thinks it was yummy.
Wow,
He must have been hungry.
So he stopped shivering.
He looks so cute,
His pretty yellow feathers.
Wow he must have been hungry.
He stopped shivering now.
His pretty yellow feathers,
His twitching tail feathers,
His little neck and his bright orange beak.
You look at him and imagine what would his name be.
I know,
I think you should call him William.
Yes,
William seems like the perfect name for him.
William the duckling.
That sounds perfect.
William just stays there swimming around and looking at you.
You wonder where his mummy and daddy are.
William must be feeling lonely but you are here to keep his company.
He's your new friend.
You sit down and you start to sing to him.
You are my sunshine,
My only sunshine.
You make me happy when skies are blue.
You never know dear how much I love you.
Please don't take my sunshine away.
You are my sunshine,
My only sunshine.
You make me happy when skies are blue.
You never know dear how much I love you.
Please don't take my sunshine away.
I think he really likes that.
Oh look,
He looks like he's smiling.
That song really cheered him up.
Here we go.
We give him another piece of bread.
He snaps it up.
Now you look around to see if you can see William's parents.
It's getting late now and you have to go home soon to get your tea.
So you look all around.
Way over in the distance you see a mummy and daddy duck.
You wave at them too.
They look at you and swim right over.
It could be William's parents.
You hope so.
As they come closer William turns around,
Looks at them and then says,
Wack wack,
Wack wack.
As they come closer they say,
Wack wack,
Wack wack.
Oh this is perfect.
It's William's mummy and daddy.
And it looks like some brothers and sisters too.
You are so happy William has found his family.
And now it's time for you to go home too.
So you wave goodbye to William and his family and smile.
He looks at you,
Wack wack and he swims away.
You feel so happy that he found his family.
So as you go to meet your mummy you start to sing William's song.
You are my sunshine,
My only sunshine.
You make me happy when skies are blue.
You'll never know dear how much I love you.
Please don't take my sunshine away.
Good night.
Good night.
