Infuse joy into the New Year with this guided meditation. Follow soothing guidance to unlock a sense of joyfulness, setting the stage for a fulfilling and vibrant journey ahead. I intend it to be both an introduction to the novice meditator while inviting those with experience to sharpen their skills and learn creative new techniques. The goal of this challenge is to make a commitment to yourself for 21 days, with hopes of it turning into a consistent habit post-challenge. My purpose in creating this series and making it highly accessible is to generate collective momentum to intentionally release the massive challenges of the past two years so we might enter the New Year with clarity of mind and a commitment to the simple # daily practices that support us to show up as our highest selves.

Namaste dear one,

Welcome to the final day of the new year challenge.

This is Jay Chaturagam and today's practice is awakening your joy.

The brilliance of the stars would be invisible without the vast darkness of space behind them.

So do not wish away the difficult portions of your life,

For they provide the contrast needed to appreciate the joyful moments.

Now for the next 10 minutes or so,

I invite you to set aside all distractions.

This is your time to shine.

There's nothing more important to do and nowhere else to be besides being here for yourself right now.

So make sure there will not be any kind of distractions.

Find a comfortable posture where you're relaxed yet alert.

Go ahead and rest your arms on your knees or on your lap,

Let there be an alignment between your head,

Neck and spine.

Ease the jaw,

Relax the face,

Drop your shoulders,

Soften the belly and breathe deep into your abdomen to send a signal to your brain and to your body that it's time to relax completely.

If you haven't already done so,

Go ahead and downshift your gaze or close your eyes and continue breathing deep into the belly,

Noticing the rise and the fall of the abdomen as the air makes its way in and out,

Just like the waves of an ocean.

Now imagine with your mind's eye something wonderful happening to you,

Like falling in love.

Let that joy flow all over you and through you.

Imagine that joy happening to someone you care for and let that joy flow.

Next,

Imagine this happening to someone you don't know very well and let the joy flow.

Finally,

Imagine this happening to someone that you don't really like,

Perhaps somebody who's been a source of anger,

Irritation or envy for you and let the joy flow.

Notice that your feelings of anger,

Irritation or jealousy have begun to dissipate and you now have a new capacity for feeling joy and that's beginning to flourish inside you.

Now I invite you to go ahead and drop this practice and enjoy the stillness of this present moment.

Soon,

You'll hear my voice again.

At your own pace,

Please bring your palms together in prayer position at your heart center.

Go ahead and rub your palms against each other,

Kindling the chi and when you feel a nice warm ball of energy weld up between your palms,

Go ahead and cup your eyes and bless yourself.

I am light,

I am loved,

I am nourished and rejuvenated and this year will be the best year yet.

You may go ahead and drop your arms.

It was a wonderful experience! It is not difficult for me to send good vibrations to every single human being, even the ones who irritate me because I understand that each individual is at a certain level of development and that we all at a certain point have interactions with people less developed than we are and of course we will also find those who are more developed than us.
