Grounding into gravity is a gentle meditation to help you anchor into the steady support of gravity. As you soften your breath and bring awareness to your body, you’ll be guided to release tension, feel the support of gravity, and settle into a deep sense of presence. This practice invites you to return home to your body, grounded, calm, and connected to the natural rhythms of life. Music by: Music of Wisdom

Welcome to this grounding into gravity practice.

Use this practice to spend the next few moments just being present with yourself.

And that could be feeling present energetically and also physically.

So as we begin,

Find yourself a comfortable position,

Either seated or lying down,

Just somewhere that you won't be tempted to fall asleep.

So gravity will be the focus as we begin to relax the body and the mind.

Now you may notice thoughts may come and go in this practice and that's okay.

Just allow them to float by in the background and you may acknowledge them as they float on by.

And so when you're feeling ready,

Just begin to take a few breaths in through the nose and let go out through the mouth and just letting it all go.

And just allow the breath to soften and the belly to relax.

Just really giving that breath choice to move in the moment,

Letting yourself arrive here for this practice,

Letting the breath slow down and soften.

And just begin to bring your awareness to your body.

And as you do,

Just notice how the body is being held by gravity.

Notice the body's natural relationship with gravity.

You might even sense or feel into this idea of gravity as if it were falling through your body and just landing there.

And just inviting and allowing your body to sink even more deeply into this natural relationship with gravity.

Let it begin to do the holding so that you don't have to do it.

Remember,

You do not have to do all the holding all of the time.

And just feel into your seat or the ground beneath you and say to yourself,

Either in your mind or out loud,

Gravity is holding me now.

The whole planet is here supporting you in this moment.

Just notice how that feels and let gravity support the softening of all areas of your body.

Invite the face to become soft,

Allow the eyes to relax and notice if the jaw could soften just a little bit more.

Let your tongue relax in your mouth.

Let it rest there as you let your lips just soften a little bit more.

Inviting that softening to move through the whole body.

Your body is supported by gravity.

You are supported.

Bring your awareness now to your whole body and just notice if there are any areas of the body that are maybe just holding on a little bit or maybe holding back from fully letting go.

And just notice,

You don't need to force or fix anything here,

You are simply noticing.

You may like to set the intention or the invitation to these areas of the body that it is okay to be supported by gravity.

There is nothing that you have to do right now other than be held in support.

Bring your awareness now to the breath and just notice the flow or the rhythm of your breath.

And there is that reminder again just to allow the breath choice to move however it needs to in this moment.

And with each inhale,

Could you just notice the body rise and open and feel into expansion.

And with each exhale,

Could you allow the body just to keep settling into the support on offer.

Allow the weight of gravity to ground you as you let go a little more on each exhale.

What is the inhale breath offering to you?

Is it expansion,

That feeling of that fresh oxygen moving through you?

Is it a sense of a fresh new energy being invited inward?

And what is the exhale breath offering to you?

Is it reminding you to rest,

To let go,

To release,

To ground and soften?

Begin to notice any movement or expansion as you breathe.

Where are you noticing this?

Is it the belly,

The chest,

The ribcage,

The back of the body,

Maybe even the throat?

Setting the invitation for expanding,

Opening,

Letting go and just releasing into gravity.

On your next inhale,

When you're ready,

Just feel the breath invite expansion and opening through the torso,

The spine and the head and feel them lift and open.

And then on the exhale,

Invite the body to relax,

Release and let go and sink into gravity.

And then just continuing this noticing and this feeling just in your own time,

In your own pace,

Inviting in expansion and opening,

Lifting,

Opening through the body and then releasing and letting go and sinking into gravity.

And you can continue with this rhythm for as long as you feel is needed.

And then just breathing in with a feeling of appreciation for this moment.

Gravity is always available to you.

It's there reminding you to let go and be held.

And so when you're ready to draw this practice to a close,

Perhaps set the intention to feel into gravity throughout the rest of your day.

Gravity is holding and supporting you always.
