Hi everyone,
Thanks for joining me today,
And welcome to our story time and contemplative talk.
This particular story,
The People of the Fey,
Is a story that the fairies gifted to me many years ago.
The story is ready to come out now and be more in the public,
To be shared with the community as a contemplative piece.
Fairies who are keepers of the natural world,
Whether you believe in them or not,
Have the job of keeping balance for our environment.
I share their story now with you,
Just as they shared their story with me over ten years ago.
I share this with you as an opportunity to reflect.
Now I will share the story with you.
This is called People of the Fey.
The fairies of the woods sang and they danced.
To the moon and sun they did prance.
Their songs filled the air from dusk until dawn,
Making those who heard them want to sing along.
They played and swung through the tallest of trees.
They laughed and clapped and flew with great ease.
The words to their songs reached the ears of the neighboring warriors from the town who sat near.
Each night and each day the warriors could hear these songs and they began to say,
How we wish we could bring the fairies over this way into the town where we can also play.
And as the warriors pondered thus,
Thinking of a plan,
They began to discuss just how they might bring the fairies near into the town where their songs could ring loud and clear.
And so the warriors,
They did know of stories from the past of how the fairies did show great affection for things bright and new,
For things that were shiny and glittered like morning dew.
The warriors they plotted and schemed and planned and put many pretty things on a pillow held in their hands.
They walked through the wooded land and on the pillow they placed pretty things that sparkled and shined like rings and bracelets and charms of the time.
To the edge of the woods the warriors did roam to try and lure the fairies away from their wooded home.
Upon the ground,
The silk pillow they placed with the sparkly rings and diamonds from home and waited to see if the fairies would show.
In the light of the moon that very night,
The fairies caught sight of the sparkling and twinkling of the diamond rings bright and flew down with their fairy wings to see what would make such a glittery light.
The fairies enthralled by these pretty shiny things tried on the bracelets,
Necklaces,
And new diamond rings.
A beautiful gown also stood near and one of the fairies placed it on herself to see how she fared.
The fairies they saw the warriors standing quite near and asked what did they want the fairies from the air.
The warriors they did say,
Please fairies come and join us with your songs.
We sing and we dance and we love to play and want you to dance at our ballroom all night and all day.
The fairies they thought,
What harm could be caught from going to town and having some fun in their brand new shiny ball gowns.
So they followed the warriors into the town and wore their beautiful new gowns.
They danced and swayed in the moon's mystical light while their diamonds sparkled,
Oh so bright.
All night and all day the fairies did play.
They danced and they sang in their merry way.
They danced and they laughed at the fairy ball dressed in their gowns with the warriors by their sides and no one did frown.
For many a fortnight did the festivities last from morning till night as the shadows were cast until one evening one fairy did roam away from the ball towards her wooded home that seemed to call.
She wanted to stretch out her wings for just a bit and was quite put off to discover that her wings she could not lift.
She struggled and pushed against the beautiful dress but she was held and bound by the seams and she frowned.
The fairy she struggled and wiggled and wormed but freedom for her wings she could not earn.
She realized now that these pretty things that were human bound down her magical wings.
A meeting she knew she must call that very night to have the other fairies learn the truth of it all.
The warriors yes they were sweet and meant well you see but a fairy cannot be kept by mere diamond rings.
A meeting was called by the fairies after the ball and there they discussed how they would return home before the fall.
The night after next when the warriors were done and tucked into bed all nice and warm the fairies did make their escape and started their return back to their home into the woods where they could once again roam.
Oh wise crone of our woods who lives near our home please help unbind our lovely wings from these very pretty human things.
Wise crone from the wooded place she did appear and answered the fairies please that she could hear.
She pulled on the binding and tugged at the strings and untying the fairies released their bright and beautiful wings.
The fairies pulled off the gowns and the rings and the shoes and returned the lovely bracelets and necklaces to the warriors who knew not how to set them loose.
At the doorstep of the hall where was held the fairy ball they did leave all the pretty things they no longer did need.
They danced and they leapt and they sang as they left and followed wise crone back into their beautiful wooded home.
They felt much better that very night where once again they began to play under the light of the brilliant moon and soon were sparkling with the beautiful things that mother nature's gifts do bring.
The warriors did wake and they did weep and wail for their own sake.
They learned that the fairies will play much longer by being far far away.
On the wind will travel their songs and their light once again all through the day and of course all through the night.
And if you listen closely at the close of day you just might be lucky enough to hear the beautiful songs bright and near sung by the people of the Fae.
In this story we see how the warriors the humans were able to attract the fairies with the bright shining jewels and gowns.
The fairies loved at first the fun and the dancing but over time the brilliant shining diamonds that had held them actually ended up binding them into the material world.
The fairies knew the importance in their connection with the natural world their home in the forest and their connection to the plants and animals that these connections were more sustaining to their soul than the jewels and the gowns and the temporary fun that they had with the warriors.
What the fairies ask of us now of us humans through this story is to meditate reflect on and contemplate how these things might play out in our own lives.
What things in our lives are soul sustaining and what things in our life are soul draining.
Look for the things in your life that help uplift you and uplift those around you and begin to shed those things that are heavy and weighted and bring our soul back down.
Take time over these next few days to meditate on this and possibly journal if that works for you about these different things in your life.
And remember if you need help hearing from your insides from your intuitive connection about what to keep and what to let go of you can always ask your guides your angels the fairies to show you they are always willing to be helpful.
All you have to do is call on them.
I'm so grateful that you join me here today and I hope that you have wonderful blessings for your day your week your month.
I look forward to hearing any comments that you might have about the story or how this applies in your life and I send you lots of light and love.
Namaste.
