Welcome to the Happiness Accelerator,
Session 5.
Today we will focus on doing good for others.
There is nothing more that brings happiness than helping others.
So today we will focus on doing just that.
Please find a comfortable place where you will not be disturbed and allow your eyes to close.
Feel the relaxation behind the darkness of your eyelids.
Noticing your eyes and how they are calm.
Allow any tension in your forehead to melt away.
Noticing your jaw.
Let any tension in the jaw unwind.
Let your shoulders drop down,
Your muscles going loose and limp.
Notice your arms resting heavily by your sides.
Your hands are resting.
They don't need to move at all right now.
Feel your digestive system completely relaxed,
Effortlessly working for you.
Notice your back is fully supported.
All tension can melt away.
I'm not sure whether your right leg or your left feel more relaxed.
Perhaps they are both equally calm and have a nice balanced relaxation.
Your feet are comfortable and even your toes are deeply relaxed.
Notice your body as a whole,
Very comfortable,
Resting,
Rejuvenating in this moment.
Now that you are in such a nice state of mind and your body is very relaxed,
Recall a memory where someone helped you.
It could be when a friend helped you through a difficult time.
Or it could be when a stranger exchanged a smile just when you needed it.
Notice the emotions you feel when you remember this time when someone helped you.
I bet you feel light,
Happy,
And full of gratitude.
Now let's remember a time when you helped someone else.
What was it that you offered to this person that they deeply needed in that moment?
See their facial expressions when you helped them.
Remember the words that they said to you in gratitude for your actions.
Now notice your emotions that came through when you helped this person.
How did it make you feel when you were there for them when they needed you?
Wonderful.
Doing good for other people is a simple way to increase your happiness.
You don't even need to donate money to charity or join a cause that you care about.
Although you should.
Giving something as simple as a genuine compliment or a smile to someone when you know they need it.
You can even help an elderly neighbor.
Picking up their shopping is enough to make you feel more positive in life.
Notice how relaxed your body is right now.
Be grateful for this moment.
You are helping yourself right now.
Taking time for you to relax and feel calm is very helpful for your overall wellbeing.
Now imagine you have the ability to help the entire world.
What special gifts or talents do you have that can help people around the world?
Imagine that many,
Many people feel the benefit of your words and your actions.
How does it feel to know that you are helping others on a daily basis?
Imagine that when you help someone,
It makes them feel happy too.
Every action you make out of kindness and love makes the world a happier place.
Begin to rise from this meditation in your own time and when you are back to conscious awareness,
Go out and help someone,
Every day,
For the rest of your life.
