Isabelle's "Waves of Emotions" Guided Meditation reminds us in a calming subtle way that some waves are glassy and round, curling and landing perfectly on the golden sand. Other waves can surprise us without warning, roaring angrily and crashing onto the beach. It's important to notice how our emotions are like waves. How they can change, how they can come and how they can go. Kids can now learn more about their emotions by listening to Isabelle's 10-day course "Overcome My Monkey Mind" available on Insight Timer. When you give your emotions space to be there and approach them with love and kindness, you can enjoy your life in a far more positive way.

Hello everyone.

This is Isabel.

Welcome to My Peaceful Universe.

Today we are going to explore the quiet universe within you.

That special place where you can calm your mind and relax your body.

Find a comfortable place to sit or lay and rest your hands on your lap or by your sides.

Now gently close your eyes and let's begin.

Imagine you are laying on a beautiful beach.

Color of the water is a clear turquoise green and you can feel the vibrant rays of sunshine radiating and energizing your entire body and tingling the top of your skin.

The sand is golden and soft and you can feel the warm powdery texture of the sand supporting your body as it slowly sinks deeper and deeper until you can no longer feel the weight of your body anymore.

Let all your worries and tension fade away as you totally relax in this peaceful place.

Take a gentle breath in.

Feel the salty ocean air flowing in through your nose.

Following the salty air down to the base of your belly.

Now slowly breathe out.

Just relax your breath now.

Allow your breath to flow in and out naturally as you lay here in the present moment.

Feel yourself drifting off into a deep sense of calm.

It feels so wonderful to be here.

You can hear the waves as they roll in and out towards the shore.

Some waves are small and serene with bubbles of white foam softly crushing along the shoreline.

Other waves are glassy and round,

Curling and landing perfectly and calmly on the golden sand.

Other waves can surprise us without warning,

Roaring angrily and crashing down with strong force onto the beach and pounding the soft sand.

Our emotions are like the waves.

They come and they go.

Just as the ocean can change so can our emotions.

Like the waves,

Our emotions at one moment may be calm and we feel happy and at ease.

Then in the next moment we may feel worried or upset.

With the ocean it is the weather that might cause the changes in the waves.

Wild winds,

A storm or a sunny day can all make a difference to how the waves will react.

In our lives many different things may affect our emotions,

Such as difficult relationships with friends or family,

Or maybe worrying too much about things that have happened in the past or things that may happen in our future.

It could even be something stressful that may be happening at school.

One thing we know for sure about the ocean and our emotions is that they can chop and change.

So like the waves,

One moment we can feel calm and happy and at another moment we may feel confused or angry.

We may feel happy without a care in the world and then be swept away by a wave of worry or disappointment.

We may feel waves of peace and joy and then may get dumped by a large wave of sadness.

If we try and push the waves and our feelings away,

The waves can push us around,

Getting stronger and bigger,

Crashing here,

There and everywhere.

When we learn to ride and surf all the waves and our feelings,

We can then float with them calmly and gently to the shore.

And we approach all the waves and all our feelings with kindness and meet them with our loving calm breath.

We can take control of the waves and feel a great sense of peace.

It doesn't matter how big or small the surf is,

We can face all our waves with calmness and ease.

Feel your breath rolling in and out with the rhythm of the waves now.

You can hear the waves washing up on the sand and rippling back to meet the ocean.

You are soothed by the cool mist of the ocean splashing softly on your skin.

It feels so refreshing.

Waves of peace wash over you as you spend a little while longer basking under the warm,

Cozy sun.

Enjoy this time just being under the light blue open sky,

Just relaxing.

Everything else can wait for now.

When you hear the bell,

Slowly open your eyes,

Give your fingers and toes a gentle stretch and float back into this moment feeling peaceful and calm.

You are soothed by the cool mist of the ocean.

You are soothed by the cool mist of the ocean.

My 4 year old is on the autistic spectrum and has a very hard time going to sleep at night. This meditation has been a god send- ever night she asks to listen to it, and stops fidgeting almost immediately. She is always asleep before the meditation ends. Thank you so much for doing a meditation just for kids, it has made a world of difference for us!

Love this! Would be great for any child or youth in school. I loved it even though I’m not currently in school, but just imagined this to be β€œat work”. I had this beautiful experience riding the waves of my emotions on a surfboard! And now have the biggest smile on my face and want to go find a beach and learn surfing!
