How To Practice Ho'oponopono
Ho'oponopono is one of the most quietly powerful practices you will ever encounter — four simple phrases that have the ability to shift something deep inside you. Rooted in ancient Hawaiian wisdom and brought to the modern world through remarkable teachers, this practice is about forgiveness, responsibility, and the kind of peace that comes from genuinely letting something go. In this short video, Ipek introduces Ho'oponopono, where it comes from, and guides you through your first practice.

There is an ancient Hawaiian practice that has been used for centuries to restore harmony within families,
Within communities,
And within the self.
It's called ho'oponopono.
And at its heart.
It's a practice of forgiveness.
In traditional Hawaiian culture,
Hoʻoponopono was a group process.
When conflict arose between people within families,
The community would gather They would speak honestly,
Take responsibility,
And ask for forgiveness,
And make things right.
The belief was that unresolved conflict created a kind of spiritual and emotional blockage,
Not just between people,
But within each person involved.
And that healing required acknowledgement,
Honesty,
And love.
In more recent times,
Ho'oponopono was brought to the world in a new form by a Hawaiian therapist named Dr.
Hugh Len,
Who applied the practice in a remarkable way,
Taking personal responsibility for the healing of others by working entirely within himself.
His approach was based on a profound idea at the heart of Ho'oponopono,
That everything we experience in our outer world is a reflection of what lives within us.
And therefore.
Healing anything,
Any relationship,
Any situation,
Any pattern begins with healing ourselves.
This is what makes Ho'oponopono so different from ordinary forgiveness practices.
It doesn't ask you to excuse what happened.
It doesn't ask you to pretend you were not hurt.
It asks you to take radical responsibility,
Not for what the other person did,
But for how it lives inside you,
For the change it carries,
For the story it created.
Because that part,
The inner part,
Is the only part you can actually heal.
And it does this through just four phrases.
I'm sorry.
Please forgive me.
I love you.
And thank you.
These phrases are not directed outward in the way you might expect.
They are directed inward,
To the part of you that is carrying the pain,
The memory,
The unresolved feeling.
You are speaking to yourself as much as to anyone else.
Acknowledging.
Asking for release.
And offering gratitude while returning to love.
Each phrase carries its own medicine.
I'm sorry is acknowledgment.
Something in me has held on to this.
And I recognize it.
Isn't that beautiful?
Please forgive me.
Is a request for release,
Not from the other person necessarily,
But from the pattern itself.
I love you.
Is the return to love as the ground beneath everything,
To the truth that love is always the destination.
And thank you is gratitude for the lesson.
For the awareness.
For the opportunity to heal.
You know,
When practice all these together,
These four phrases create a complete cycle of healing.
And they can be directed toward any person,
Any situation,
Any memory.
Any part of yourself.
That needs softening and healing.
Let's practice together right now.
Bring to mind something that is carrying unresolved weight for you.
Maybe a person,
Maybe a situation,
A version of yourself you have judged.
And hold it gently in your awareness without analyzing it.
Acknowledging it is there.
And silently repeat.
I'm sorry.
Please forgive me.
I love you.
Thank you.
I'm sorry.
Please forgive me.
I love you.
Thank you.
And again,
And this time,
Let the words go a little deeper.
I'm sorry.
Please forgive me.
I love you.
Thank you.
And notice what shifted,
Even something small,
A slight softening,
A quiet release.
That is.
