This calming and grounding movement meditation is great for new seasons or "New Year" intention-setting. It involves deep breathing guidance and encourages unhurried movement connected to circling a nearby tree.

Peace and courage and ground and openness.

My name is Jonathan Stalls.

I'm with Intrinsic Paths.

I'm an artist,

Walker,

Seeker.

This is going to be a movement,

Slow and unhurried movement,

Invitation,

Meditation.

So I invite you to pause this audio if you are not yet outside under a big sky and preferably next to or near a cherished tree or any tree that's outside of your home in a public park or anywhere that's meaningful.

So whether you are by foot or on a wheelchair,

I just invite you to have self-compassion for however movement meets you.

It might be a couple steps.

It might be several steps.

It might be a couple rolls on the wheelchair.

It might just be being still outside and recognizing your breath and the air around you as movement.

So I invite you to pause,

To be outside.

I will be recording this audio from a public park and so you will hear noises and sounds of the public realm and we welcome them and invite them.

I also invite you to welcome the sounds that surround you.

So once you are near a tree or outside,

I invite you to take a couple really deep breaths,

Breathing in all the way,

All the way in and slowly out.

That as you breathe in,

You imagine your lungs and your cells,

The neurons,

Your fingers and your toes and your entire existence expanding.

And as you breathe out,

You're inviting openness and expansion in your relationships,

In your environment,

In your ideas,

In your doings.

So let's breathe in openness and expansion all the way in and slowly out.

So at this point,

Just honoring whatever movement makes sense to you,

I invite you to slowly just walk in unhurried,

Patient circles around the tree or maybe just around your yard or a patch of grass or a parking lot.

Just be with for a moment,

Just be with the movement.

You're honoring your body as it is.

You're listening and inviting the tree to speak,

To see you,

To honor you.

You are honoring in your own way the tree,

Inviting the tree to honor you,

To see you as you honor and see it with more intention and more care.

You are still slowly moving and we move together as an expression of moving forward.

We invite the big sky above us and the horizon around us as permission for more openness in the days ahead,

Just like in our breathing,

That as we move under this big wondrous sky that we are a part of and a participant under and alongside this big wondrous sky.

So whether we are moving into a new year,

A new relationship,

A new season or chapter after ending a relationship or a job or a move or any transition of season,

Of energy,

Of connection,

That our slow movement is an expression of self-compassion and awareness,

That we don't have all the answers but we're here and we're breathing and we're existing.

We just honor our movement,

Honor your feet or if you're on a wheelchair,

Just honor the weight of your body as it is with the air.

When it feels healthy and calming to do so,

I invite you to stop movement for a moment and face the tree and take one or two or several.

Consider pausing this and taking several deep breaths all the way in and slowly out.

And that as we invite openness and expansion,

We notice the details of the tree in front of us,

That we honor and see the trunk of the tree as a mirror for this life,

This moment as it is,

As we are,

Things that we're shedding and letting go,

Spaces inside of us and around us that are becoming and blossoming,

Areas of the tree and areas inside of us that represent pain and wounds and we're healing,

They are healing,

We're noticing them.

And that as we feel our feet on the ground or feel our weight and our connection to ground,

That we honor and invite roots,

Rootedness,

Soil,

What is nourishing us,

What can we invite that will bring more nourishment to our soil in the days ahead,

In the months ahead,

In the season ahead.

Where are we getting our nourishment so we have healthy roots for this life,

For this beautiful trunk,

This unique trunk of the tree that withstands wind and weather and storms.

And we slowly lift our head up and notice the branches and the leaves.

If we're in winter and fall,

We notice the sleeping buds and the remaining leaves that have yet to fall and we honor what these branches are capable of,

Where they reach,

Where they sing,

Where they dance,

Where they grow,

How they grow,

And the natural world that lives and breathes like these geese that are flying by in the sky,

In the air,

So many unknowns.

Not quite sure where they'll land,

But they'll land somewhere adapting,

Emerging.

So we just invite this tree and the story of this unique tree,

Whatever tree it is,

A young one,

A mature one,

One that has passed and transitioned,

One that is full of life,

Any tree and its story.

We invite the roots and the trunk and the rent and the reaching branches into our own intending for the days ahead.

So I invite you to continue in that place of breathing and honoring and pausing this if you want to stay in that space.

And I also invite returning to your movement and your slow to and fro.

And so with this movement,

I invite you to just continue tending and honoring your body,

Inviting openness and expansion,

Inviting self-compassion and transition into this new year,

This new season,

This new relationship,

This new chapter with different relationships or changes in relationships.

And when you find yourself deep in your thoughts and in your thinking,

I invite you to pause,

Take a really deep breath and return to your movement.

So I highly encourage if you are in a meaningful space and you have the time,

Continue slowly circling and honoring the tree,

Maybe moving to a different tree,

Going through the same ritual and inviting these themes into your body and into your being for all that's ahead.

So together we'll take one last deep breath honoring all that is as it is all the way in and slowly out.

Peace.

I did this inside but with the window open to hear outside noise. A peaceful meditation. Will try outside for sure. Thank you so much. 🙏🏻👍🏼
